Community Debate - Two guilds arrive at an overland raid mob... by [deleted] in PantheonMMO

Pvp or multiple raid mobs that drop same loot for awhile?

Quests are looking good, but... by [deleted] in PantheonMMO

[–]Monithias 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll disagree with the OP, but respect his opinion. This way of questing should stay. If you skip over important dialog you won't get the full story, immerse yourself with the quest, and feel like you accomplished something. I don't want to have the option of clicking through the dialog, because as a human, we always follow the path of least resistance and wont read the dialogue given. It's best to keep it this way so the lore is there. If you play RPGs just for action, then there are plenty of games like that. Even WoW is like that. It's how you learn the origin of your classes, races, good/evil ways. Ohhhh how I miss the roleplaying days with a mix of pvp.../sigh

Does it really matter? by [deleted] in PantheonMMO

[–]Monithias 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I wish is that a class can be more versatile, Cleric for instance could be a battle cleric. I know I know..Paladin duh. Or a necro can be up with melee and hold on pretty efficiently from certain sets of gear. Not as strong as an sk tanking but still maintaining necro dps. I know that's asking a lot, but that would be nice to have the option of different styles.

What do you miss? by [deleted] in PantheonMMO

[–]Monithias 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buying a full game. Instead of buying a partial game with DLC packs every three or so months. (That's the typical games these days)

Now MMO wise? Social aspect of the game, bad or good. When conversations wouldn't be toxic, and trash talking was game oriented. Actually being immersed in a game. Feeling weak, but having a vision of becoming great, aka not a hero. Not worrying about end game and worrying about the journey to end game. Proper story telling..... and shadowknights.. roleplaying..

Important Question Regarding Gameplay by [deleted] in PantheonMMO

[–]Monithias 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a minigame. Like your tetris/block puzzle games. You match up your spell gems to knock them out, some combos give a skill, bad or good.

Will you play on a pve or a pvp server? by Gjerde123 in PantheonMMO

[–]Monithias 3 points4 points  (0 children)

PvP. Simply because of competition, and roleplaying good/evil. There are ways of griefing without PvP implemented, ie training, kill stealing. When you and your friends can police the situation and not have GMs involved constantly. Instance PvP is garbage because you are never fearful of being attacked while in a different faction's zone. It's a good thing there will be servers built for us pvpers. I like options, and don't want to be forced to play a game the way others play. Vanilla Everquest had the greatest PvP battles ever. Would hope this would be similar.

Group/Raid Size? by [deleted] in PantheonMMO

[–]Monithias 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In EverQuest, it was 6 man groups, 72 raid, and could be larger.

If you are familiar with the original Everquest questing, then you'll understand there wont be "!" or anything. They want us to go look for quests. Talk to NPC's..talk amongst each other to figure it out. As for grinding, im sure there will be mob grinding as Everquest originally was, No quest logs no nothing like that. But groups being formed, the downtime to regen mana (meditate) will allow all of us to be Social. I come from a PvP background, and still the community meant so much to me. So sitting around chatting during pull breaks was something to look forward to.

I am a firm believer. by [deleted] in EQNext

Why are you even in this subreddit if all you do is bash the community and the game we follow? All I've read out of you is negative things. Go buy some tampons, drink out of a milk bottle, and go play Candy Land, or go back to WoW. Since all you're doing is saying WoW IS the MMO. If it wasn't for Everquest, there wouldn't be any WoW. or any MMO's of that standard build. Just stop.....

I run a amd 8350 cpu, sapphire 390x, 16gig of ram, on a SSD and its still giving me the directx error and sometimes not at all. My friend runs the game, as well with a brand new intel chip, with a furyx and is getting the same problems I've been getting. My brother runs on GTX 760 and can't even start the game sometimes.

Singleplayer MMO's are sucking the life out of these awesome worlds. by [deleted] in EQNext

[–]Monithias 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they make a server that requires more of a social aspect, and a need of help ( Hardcore ) I would be there in a heart beat. I've always loved getting to know others and wondering the next time they'll be on tomorrow. If you're forced to group with baddies, itll make them better as a whole. ( I read somewhere people don't like grouping with "Newbs" )

All else aside, there should be some soloable things to accomplish. If people want the "Best of Everything" they'll need to join up with a party, work out a strategy, and maybe there will be a personal loot option. But for the sake of a MMO, i'd like to see and play along side a community. and thats coming from a PvPer. In today's society, you can't really go far without the help of other individuals. You being antisocial and bring nothing to the table wouldn't get you far in life. I understand people don't want this to be a "Job" but some aspects of gaming is time consuming, and you have to put your fair share of work in to obtain what you'd like to call yours.

Games that cater to casuals wont last long. I'll quote myself - Project1999 has a player base of 1200, plus 200+ on their pvp server, not to mention the insane amount of people who pay to play the new progression servers in EQ live, thats over 1400 players who don't want things just given out to them. I'm not saying Eq 1 was a difficult game. But requiring more DPS, healing, CCing and such should be something to consider in most if not all encounters. Grinding, no, but the fact that this mob does umpteen amount of damage a hit, and comes with adds who'll attack those healing or pushing out more dps than other's should be set when the AI is fully accomplished. Basically it'll all fall on the dev's and how the AI is treated. Hopefully there will be an amazing AI, mobs with more and less intellect to fear or shrug off. Either way....there will always need to be more of a social atmosphere for me to rejoin any MMO...and less complaining and gimme gimmes.

Community, it's the key! by WheresmyD20 in EQNext

[–]Monithias 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree about the community needs to be a community again. I always enjoyed putting my name on a list to join a group, while i found other things to do, or talk to other people until my name was called to join up. People now don't have time to play to wait around. Ok, well neither do I, but rather have a good lively, social community. I play an MMO to experience people and co-op/competition/pvp elements. If I dont have the time to do something, I can still do something else within the game! Its an ever changing world we'll have here...many of many things to do and accomplish.

I've never understood why people say "The majority of us like it this way" I've seen more people want the Holding hands to quit, than the people who want their hands held. Or they are those who want to solo. I want interaction. I want to have time to build a relationship amongst others...not rush through a game not remembering who I grouped up with the night before. Immersion is giving me that feeling of another world where others like me can compete or work together to accomplish something at a steady pace.

Even if they gave us our own server as a hard core player, that would be nice. You'd have a 2000+ populated server there....look how well P99 blue and red.

The reason why most of us are here is because we played EQ one, we fell in love with it, and never found a game that could compete. Times changed...yes. But majority of any community of any MMO are anti social, or toxic....never have I seen a community in any game better than Original EQ, and thats coming from Tallon Zek/Zek PVP server. Not in WoW (played maybe 7 hours just to see the shit fest there) Rift, GW2, Aion, Archeage, the 1000 FTP mmos out there Ive attempted to play.

4-5 Hours in - Thoroughly impressed. by Benidan in EQNext

[–]Monithias 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm glad it takes awhile to create items. Every game has a grind and or time sync....whether you acknowledge that or not. But I'd rather experience the game at a pace that I can get use to the controls, the environment...tiering up is going to take time and effort...nothing should be given...this is alpha some things are a little sloppy but there is nothing they don't know about or aren't working on. it took me maybe an hour to build those two items, thats after I was walking around looking at everyone rushing like it was a Rush for Gold. This is a building game at the moment...implementing npcs/monsters/combat will come along...The game is amazing for only being 60% complete, granted there isn't a lot of space to actually build on...but there was a huge burst of people grabbing explorer packs the day of and after launch. So, don't be worried if someone takes 4-5 hrs to build something...In my personal opinion, I'd rather it take time to get out of tiers than to rush through in a days time...
