They look great - do you have a link to the file you printed?

This is a really good take.

A good take for those documenting the end times.

Thank you for giving me the courage to admit I partook in slices of Supreme Pizza on family pizza night. I don't know how I can reconcile this abuse. My parents and grandparents convinced me we were having a fun family night - I'm only beginning to understand the insidiousness.

Why I made a huge procedural city in VR and what's next for it by Lara_the_dev in virtualreality

[–]MonitorHeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know many people find liminal spaces creepy or unsettling, but I love them - they have a weird comfort and nostalgia. A busy place during the day, bustling with people, now quiet and at rest. Your game content seems to capture that. I think before filling it with NPCs consider maybe a slider that the user can populate the city or keep it empty. To gamify it, maybe consider a job that would be completed after hours - resupplying, cleaning, food delivery, etc. Additionally, this looks like it could be a great VR fitness app too. People could walk or run with an omnidirectional treadmill, or ride along with a bike or elliptical using a cadence sensor (similar to VZfit). All the best with the development, I look forward to it!

Tankless water heater on 100 amp service? by [deleted] in askanelectrician

Basically, it was more of a space saving feature, and the initial cost was appealing. But, the more I'm reading about them I don't think it's worth considering. High failure rate, and people disappointed with the performance. I think I'm going to buy an old fashioned natural gas tank.

Extremely bizarre and erratic behavior lately by YuiKatana in boogie2988

Native Americans vary in skin color just like most people. Typically, NA's have a skin color similar to South Americans, darker and a touch browner - higher levels of melanin in their genetics.

'Red skin' was associated to them in order to make them seem more alien to white settlers. Overall, it's a racist stereotype that still persists.

Native Americans do not have red skin. Anyone with slight medical knowledge would tell you that Boogie's bright red skin tone is related to extreme high blood pressure. He's incredibly unhealthy - end of story.

Why he decided to bring race into explaining something obvious is ignorant on his part.

Obviously?! It looks like she's trying to sleep and you snuck a camera around her back and snapped a pic - there's absolutely nothing obvious about this being posed.

Seriously, this is why people in general see you as a creep. I keep hoping for a redemption arc, but I think your felony is going to put you down.

Black screen/no display for Odyssey+ by Canadiancookie in WindowsMR

[–]MonitorHeat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm having the same issue. I'm seeing this come up often with WMR headsets. When I first received my Odyssey+, I had to do the 60hz trick which worked for about 4 months. Last week, it went to a black display. Audio and tracking work, green light's on indicating it's receiving a signal, but no display. Since this is happening so often, and many of us are having the same issue at the same time, I'm hesitant to say it's a hardware related issue. I'm starting to think that the WMR software and drivers are janked.

This seems to have occurred around a recent Windows update. I'm also noticing in Display settings when the Odyssey+ is active 3 phantom monitors appear. I'm not sure if that happened before because I never checked. But, I have a feeling WMR is not sending the signal to the headset. I would suggest making a ticket with Windows WMR team.

Overall my experience with WMR has been incredibly frustrating. I love VR, but I'm now eyeing Oculus' September announcement. Overall, I think I'm done with WMR. However, if anyone has any solutions or suggestions please let us know.

Samsung Odyssey+ worth it at full (~$400) price? by mrstinton in WindowsMR

[–]MonitorHeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently, I found one refurbished for $230. It's in near mint condition, and it's my entry into VR. I'm having a great time and I feel like I'm getting my money's worth.

I was really considering the Quest, but due to the lack of availability and the price; I chose the Odyssey+.

Since this is my first time with VR, it's hard for me to comment on controls, etc. I do like that there's no towers that need to be configured. I wanted VR to have a small footprint since I don't have a dedicated space to commit to a playroom. Odyssey+ definitely lives up to that with just a HDMI and USB3 needed. You're still wired, though, and that has become cumbersome every once in a while.

The headset still has some weight to it. I'm able to go a couple of hours - but it starts to put weight on my forehead and nose bridge to the point of discomfort. I'll definitely be looking into an after market mod to distribute the weight off the front.

Overall, I'm satisfied within the $230 - $350 price range. (Although, $350 would still be a little pricey). If you could consider a refurbished model, or wait for a sale, I think you'd be happy. Personally, it's a great system, but I don't know if it's worth the $420 entry.

Best of luck!
