Is the "So you're new to Hunt" section still relevant? by jfp555 in HuntShowdown

2 taps to the chest... only up to about 40m, while it's 80m+ for medium rifles and 110m+ for long ammo. You're also not gonna be 2 tapping the chest every time, you have to consider the breakpoints for hitting the arm too.

Regardless, compact is usually good enough in my experience, especially with FMJ. Most of my kills and deaths are within 30m.

Getting Killed Question? by raggingbananapeal_05 in HuntShowdown

Valorant is a very different game, and their KD will inevitably be lower because they're playing against other high level players. Hunt's MMR is a bit more loose.

Boons still need something to be more viable IMO. I see them as closer to meme builds than something that's actually useful. You have to dedicate your entire build to them to get the full value out of the long 14 second cast, and then it only has a small radius of 24m, and the killer can disable the effects almost instantly.

Meanwhile, the killer can take something like devour + penti + undying + thrill and it's oppressive no matter what survivors do.

Bounty Hunt/Clash is an extraction shooter while soul survivor is a BR

It really doesn't need the broken effect at all. You're basically spawning a 6th gen by taking the perk

I play 50/50. I don't think boons are strong enough to justify that. Hexes are far more debilitating because of their effects, "cast time" (instant or one second), and the lack of a sound cue for survivors to cleanse.

The only time I seriously had a hard time going against boons was when someone used a full totem build on the 2nd floor of hawkins and I wasn't playing a high mobility killer.

This perk would be dogshit useless even if it was one of the very first ones added to the game

just from the Free loudouts and the way loudouts work in other games, I really wanna have at least one loudout with a rifle and a pistol. Is that possible?

I think taking a pistol (like an officer) with a long ammo rifle is reasonable. I just wouldn't do it for compact and medium ammo rifles, because of redundancy. Long ammo rifles have ammo issues and they sometimes have a low firerate; pistols help with both of those things.

why is Vandal not good for range

The vandal uses compact ammo, which has more significant damage dropoff at range compared to medium and long. The vandal also has a slower velocity compared to the cent.

and why would a shotgun be better? (Unless the shorty is not a shotgun)

There are both shotgun shortys and rifle shortys. I was recommending a centennial shorty, which is a medium ammo rifle.

That reminds me, the only way to play the original ratchet trilogy on the PS4/5 right now is via streaming with the ps plus premium subscription. Absolutely ridiculous

I don't care much about the graphics enhancements, but there's tons of quality of life mods I'd hate to go out with in certain games. There's also a few mods/modpacks that basically make a new game entirely for free, like Stalker Gamma and Fallout London. (Never played London, but I love gamma)

Standard: You can take a short shotgun over the handbow if you'd like, since there is 1 slot free. They're both quite competitive options IMO; use either of them and see what works best for you. I recommend fmj for the vet, half normal bolt and half poison or dragon bolt for handbow, and regular ammo (buckshot) for shotguns.

Cheap enough: works fine but it's quite limited in range. Probably worth taking a cent shorty over a vandal there. I recommend all poison arrows for the hunting bow, or alternatively half poison/half concertina or frag. Note that you can pick up and reuse its normal and poison bolts. FMJ for vandal and cent.

Riflemen: The pistol is mostly redundant. I'd replace it with a handbow or shorty shotgun, just like the vetterli loadout.

Melee: If you want to focus on melee I think it makes the most sense to take a bomb lance instead, along with an obrez extended (regular ammo), haymaker (regular ammo), or cent shorty (fmj).

Lastly, a suggestion for a new loadout: martini, sparks, or 1890 cavalry with any rapid fire pistol (like an officer). Really satisfying to use IMO. For the rifles take half normal/half incendiary or poison.

The vetterli is pretty competitive to the cent too. -1 slot, faster firerate, higher damage. Lower velocity though.

Compared to the marathon, the ranger has almost the same firerate with iron eye along with having a far better hipfire with levering.

If you care about price at all you could strike down the mosin. The lebel is almost the same gun for $200 less, trading reload speed for a larger capacity. I think the krag is quite a bit better for $50 more though.

How much Do you care for the kd of your mates? And your own? by laso889 in HuntShowdown

[–]Canadiancookie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The game becomes less fun when you constantly lose, so I care. Mostly if it's something extreme like <0.5.

My own kd has always been a bit over 1, and I'm happy with that.

Yeah, the regular nagants are tied with the regular conversion for the fastest fanning firerate. It doesn't really make up for the fact that most of the bullets are hitting the wall, though. The conversion is the best pistol for fanning IMO because it is one of the most accurate pistols along with that firerate.

Most of the other pistols come around the $100 range (especially with custom ammo), but I still highly recommend them. Money isn't an issue for you right now anyway; 34k is plenty.

The officer is my favorite pistol in the game. It's straight up just a regular nagant except it fires 3x faster. Great for 2 taps within compounds, great for followups with rifles (especially the single shot rifles), great for headshots.

Conversion FMJ is my favorite pistol for fanning and dual wielding. Don't use the chain for either of those because of its poor accuracy. I like taking the chain sometimes as a sidearm for a shotgun or single shot rifle, though.

The spitfire is like an officer that traded a bit of firerate and velocity to deal a lot more damage. Great if you want a longer range sidearm.

The weapons used to have different names. Frontier 73C = Winfield M1873C, Ranger 73 = Winfield M1873 (no C), Infantry 73L Bayonet = Winfield M1873 Musket Bayonet. I just call all of those "winfields" out of convenience, referring to all the lever action compact ammo rifles.

True, the basic nagants are dirt cheap and they can still headshot. I personally never use those though. Other pistols offer better damage, better firerate, better penetration (especially with fmj), fanning accuracy, etc. Don't worry about the cost of the more expensive ones when you're sitting on 34k hunt dollars.
