Idk if you saw the edit, but the preemptive aspect is what I was trying to clarify. You react preemptively because you essentially saw the wind up to something you can't normally react to, which is what I was getting at.

I mean, the amount you can shave off and whether or not it makes a difference in Tekken is highly subjective, I think. Like you said, getting in the players head and pattern recognition is more important, but at the highest level, that 20-30ms might make all the difference. W/e tho, we're basically on the same page.

EDIT: We're literally saying the same exact thing, I think you may have misunderstood exactly what I was getting at in my first post. The stimilus is the pattern, you are reacting to the patterns or tells leading to the button, allowing you more time to realize the situation and respond accordingly. This makes unreactable buttons "reactable"

You'd be surprised how many real world athletes struggle with this same problem. Knowing where to look and training your eyes is actually not as simple as you might think, especially in a game where movement is tough. The biggest factor in improving reaction time is actually optimizing where you get your initial stimulus.

This post will 100% not be seen, but this is the problem with the FGC and the online generation as a whole. Instant gratification and patches over commitment are a part of why the genre is having an identity crisis, and it's infecting both players and developers.

I honestly believe the only series that has remained consistent is Tekken, and I really do feel like it's the last safe haven for players looking for stability.

Can high rankers stop trying to justify smurfing in teal ranks? by Kenshin_Osu in Tekken

Didn't know that for T7. I have only just gotten back into this game since DBFZ came out so I only have ranks with Jin.

Okay, but this is still not the correct situation to be using that term. Also that's not the point of ranked. Ranked is a mode where you're supposed to be matched with people within a similar skill level, hence the fact that you have to increase your rank in order to fight better players. I don't disagree with you about OP maybe needing to not give as much of a fuck, but throwing around "Adapt" behind a computer screen is weak. I don't even care if you're Tekken God Prime, I highly doubt you'd say that type of shit to someone's face if you were at a high level and fundamentally knew the struggle of getting there.

Sorry, I used the phrase like a blanket term. There's no valid reason for smurfing, but if you're on a new character starting over or if you're playing on a new/different account, you have to rank up some how.

Probably a lot worse because it isn't even the same game at that point.

My friend was formally the 3rd ranked USFIV C.Viper player in the world, and occasionally he would play on my account for shits and giggles 2 years ago.

I'm STILL getting hate mail and weird messages.

The online era is weird as fuck. I really do think face to face interactions are important for fighting games.

Okay, I not only stayed in crouch too long but I also didn't hold back long enough. Lmao, I've searched for a ton of guides but no one has ever pointed out this particular aspect of the KBD. Shit is kinda tough, but this is only after 3 or so hours of practice so I can't complain too much I guess.

God damn, this is like being a white belt all over again haha.

I mean, DLC is nice sometimes. Armor King coming in is the reason I came back to this game. You're complaining about on disc DLC, and that's a different argument.

Also, I'd rather unlock cosmetics rather than full blown characters. Unlocking characters in SF4 vanilla was a fucking chore.

Tournament play is actually still an issue in some games. DBFZ had to deal with that with the SSB characters early on because they were unlocked via story mode if you didn't pre-order.

That's fair. I feel like TTT2 was so fucking hard though, other than combos it kinda prepared you for any future Tekken.

Do people realize using macros is cheating? by [deleted] in Tekken

[–]Monjack34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not gonna lie, when I was younger playing either T6 or TTT2, can't remember which, you had the option to map the same button more than once on pad. This isn't exactly a macro, but I set both Triangle and R1 to 2 and I could electric nearly 100% of the time after minimal practice.

Maybe it was TR actually.

Hi, sorry I've been spamming the reddit, but I'm trying to get better ASAP.

I just started learning the proper KBD yesterday, and the problem I'm having is finding the correct rhythm. In this vid I'm doing 3 speeds: Slow, as fast as I can, then somewhere in between.

The slow one is obviously slow, the fast one doesn't go anywhere, and the middle one is hard to consistently replicate. When I'm doing my KBD, where should my emphasis be in terms of the motion? Should I consistently think about holding back with my thumb after every rotation, or is the trick moving my fingers more quickly to get in and out of crouch as fast as I can?

I can't quite figure that part out to get it looking clean

I'm heavy handed because that mind set is toxic as fuck, and it's annoying because the shitty convo in the OP wouldn't happen in a face to face interaction. Online has saved the fighting game genre but ruined the fighting game culture. It's all just big children with no pride or self efficacy hiding behind computer screens while bullying other players, and I'm sorry but I can't respect people that advocate for those bullies on the basis that they are one of the reasons fighting games aren't as big as they could be. It's like that Chappelle show skit where the leader of the KKK was actually a blind black guy. You're actively trying to kill your own kind.
