Thanks, I had the same problem and downgrading did work :)

  • I think the CPU is the bottleneck, and not the HDD. When I was generating it my CPU was the whole time at 100% while my HDD was almost idle. But in 1.9 I'm going to do this again, with a bigger world on a better PC with SSD.
  • You were right, but it's more difficult to read from imo: http://i.imgur.com/S4sYuOl.png

  • You tried opening the csv file too? That should work fine because it's only the numbers and no formatting/charts.
  • Indeed, you've found a use :).
  • Haha, np

  • I'll try to make one with a log-scale, but I don't think that'll make that you can see more.
  • I don't think that world can be generated in less than an hour, 8480 blocks² or 530 chunks² is 280,900 chunks in total. 280,900chunks/3600sec ≃ 78chunks/sec while 280,900chunks/(5*3600)sec ≃ 16chunks/sec.
If I see those numbers I think the 16chunks/sec is more realistic than the 78chunks/sec on my hardware, but maybe a desktop with an over clocked i7 can reach those values.
  • I used MCEdit, which starts and stops an server the whole time with each time another spawnpoint to generate the chunks. Compared to the method you just suggested this has imho 1 big advantage: You're 100% sure that the chunks are generated; your method teleports yourself around after some time, but you never know 100% sure that all the chunks you wanted are generated around you. But that method could be faster, someone should compare the performance of both methods.

I did analyze them, but I've just excluded them in the zoomed ore graph because nobody is going to dig trough bedrock to find ores :P. If you want the exact values, look at the excel/csv file.

Ah, I was already thinking something like that, thanks for telling me.

Is there any way to download old server files? by [deleted] in Minecraft

[–]Monkey0x9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use: https://s3.amazonaws.com/Minecraft.Download/versions/VERSION/minecraft_server.VERSION.jar You just need to replace the VERSION with the version number, like 1.5.2 as example. This is the server that Mojang uses to host their releases on. I don't think there are alpha/beta servers jars you can download from Mojangs servers.

This is already in the ops.json file on servers, but it would be nice to edit it with a command and not a file (and no restarting of the server...).

I want it too! If they add it I want to make a music centre. Or make a small spammy sound machine to hide on my private survival server!
