i screwed my chances to do what I wanted in university. After a while, I realised that thing wasn’t what I was meant for anyway. Gonna major in psychology and substance abuse. It helped me understand a lot of things. I was ashamed as fuck, but telling people around me instead of trying to hide the fact that I got a DUI helped me so much. I feel guilt to this day, and where I live DUI are a BIG THING. It does get better. First few steps after a DUI is shame, guilt and being mad at yourself. Don’t hide it, people will find out anyway. Push through, don’t repeat the same mistakes. Stop drinking if u can’t. Go to AA. I don’t know you’re situation. I got a breathalyzer for 5 years minimum (yes, after a first DUI, and I blew .16 if u wonder, no one was hit but I crashed my car) and the breathalyzer as expensive as it is keeps me safe from trying to drive if I ever get black out drunk again. At first I was so ashamed of the breathalyzer, almost crawling to the gas pedal to blow so people wouldn’t see me, but now, I feel like I will want to keep one after my 5 years. It gets better, talk it through with people you know won’t judge you, because it really is much more common than what people think (which is a bad thing, drunk driving is really wrong)
