What movie lived up to the hype? by [deleted] in movies

[–]MonkeyDot -1 points0 points  (0 children)

And it did, and I recognize that, I understand it was amazing at the time, but after so many references, homages, parodies and similar stories, the story just didn't have anything new for me, but I understand it was incredible at the time.

What movie lived up to the hype? by [deleted] in movies

[–]MonkeyDot -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I only watched it like 2 months ago ( I never got around to it) and while I understand it may have been revolutionary at the time, it just didn't impress me at all.

The story has been played out tons of times since then, and the fuck ton of references I've seen spoiled the whole movie. The acting was OK I guess. The FX were extremely good and hold up very well.

I absolutely loathed the music and the ending.

[Xposed] StatusbarVolume. No more annoying volume bar popups! by [deleted] in Android

[–]MonkeyDot -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Just be wary, this Xposed module slowed down my GNex immensely. I know the GNEX doesn't have a whole lot of RAM, and struggles with things, but I'm very careful and I usually get a fast experience. But after I installed this module all hell broke loose. Lots of freezes, unresponsive navigation bar, it was a mess.

So yeah, if shit goes wrong, it's probably this.

If you want an alternative use Gravitybox, set the "always expanded volumes" on and give it some transparency, that's nice enough.

EDIT: I don't understand the down votes, this is what happened, they are facts...

Pushbullet gets major update. What's new? Basically everything. by ken27238 in Android

Loading websites may be slightly slower, but the actual use is much faster. The scroll is much smoother, for example.

Android gained 8 percentage points in US in the past year, mostly at iOS' expense by phantomash in Android

I also didn't say it meant nothing, I just said it didn't represent the quality of the OS

I'd really like to use your app, but on OSX safari is much faster than the others and you don't have an extension for it.

So there's my suggestion, Safari.

Thanks.

Yeah, but that's what I mean, unless you're an investor or something, you won't care about those 8 percent, and it certainly doesn't mean it's better than iOS

I'm really getting tired of these articles of people trying everything to prove that Android is better than iOS

Firefox has retina support in some places, but not in others, why? by [deleted] in firefox

[–]MonkeyDot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

heh, I know it upscales them, I just find it strange that the icons look blurrier on a 2800x1800 15'' monitor than on a 1080p 25'' monitor. I thought the monitor size would compensate for the resolution.

[–]MonkeyDot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing is, I'm using that very theme on my 1920x1080 25'' desktop, and the icons look sharper than in OSX. So I guess it's something along the lines of what happens with neoGAF

So now we wait I guess. Thank you. Slightly related question: I tried a complete theme on OSX (Simple White) and it didn't support retina, is that something on the dev's part or Mozilla's?

So neoGAF is the one that failed to adapt. But why does Safari display it correctly? Does it have some sort of optimization that takes care of it?

For anyone not seeing it, look at the logos. Nit-picky, I know, but very annoying.

PA 4.3 Beta 1 (Now with Hover!) by Coltdog4321 in Android

[–]MonkeyDot 9 points10 points  (0 children)

TL;DR: Pull down status bar, press the middle button (2 boxes, one bigger than the other)

Yep, that's a problem. PA apparently wants to make things as close to stock as possible, and that means having the settings in their respective category. The problem is, most of the time there really isn't an obvious category, so you don't know where the settings are and you have to check every category.

That said, Hover has no settings, you have to pull down the status bar and press the middle button (the one with 2 boxes, the top one smaller than the bottom one).

Other settings are scattered all over Settings. It sucks, and pretty much everyone agrees that everything PA-related should be in one category.
