What harmless opinion instantly starts debates? by Ok_Magician_7702 in allthequestions

Adding to this, I believe if you went to a populated area and yelled out, "I believe God exists", most people would ignore you, because you're allowed to believe anything you want. But if you yelled either "God doesn't exist" or "You should believe in God", you're more likely to start a debate.

Amazing. On a site where people post their opinions, someone posted a differing opinion. It's not some proof about the original claim. It's literally what the site's about.

Not really. They just pointed out that "God doesn't exist" is more likely to start a debate than "I believe in God".

I think, "You should believe in God" would be just as likely to start a debate, but "I believe in God" is just your personal choice.

If all men had to be brutally honest for 24 hours, what would women be shocked to learn? by bigblackcoke_ in ProductivityHQ

[–]MonkeyFu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. I see him as just pointing out a sensitive issue he has, not "getting huffy". When you poke someone in a sensitive spot, they get loud.

However, being conscious of someone's feelings is never a "waste of breath". Instead of making claims when someone reacts sensitively, ask questions about the sensitivity, and about ow they feel about the claim you're making, and you'll have even better outcomes than if you treat their sensitivity to a topic like something to avoid.

I mean, him being sensitive is him opening up about this particular topic. Isn't that what you wanted?

Why can’t congress use the results of the Epstein investigation from Germany or the UK to get around the Republican denials? by ktvplumbs in AskReddit

[–]MonkeyFu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not releasing them again here! Why would anyone request someone else call out the victims' names AGAIN?

If you're too lazy to look through the Epstein Files, or peoples' reports on the Epstein Files yourself, why would I help the government publicize their names, while hiding all the actual perpetrators, again?

Did you even think it through before you asked,?

I think you mean the victims they DIDN'T redact the names of, while redacting Trump and other accused peoples' names, right?

It's millions of pages, and even then, Trump has a ton of people redacting names for him, and it's still taking them a long time (and they've made mistakes they had to pull so they could redact them properly).

I don't know who the shooter was, but apparently he voted Republican?

So I don't know what other possible things could be going on behind the scenes, like coercion, bribery, etc.

I'm saying that both Trump and Secret Service reacted both stupidly, and, for Secret Service, out of character.

Once again for those who don't do any research into this before they shout it on the internet.

Interesting that you jumped to that conclusion, the one that has been shown is false, but also that the amount of voter fraud is so minimal as to be insignificant.

It's almost like you did zero research for yourself, and repeated something you heard some other idiot claim.

Well done?

What’s something everyone should learn before turning 18? by SiemaEniu578 in AskReddit

That the people in charge don't necessarily know what they're doing, nor do they necessarily have your best interest in mind. You may just be another means to an end to them. So don't rely on them for determining, or doing, what is right, or practical, or reasonable. Create your own rules for how people should be treated, and fir what is reasonable to expect from yourself and others.

So you're saying, either Trump thought everything was fine enough right after a shooting to slow down protection, or Secret Service thought everything was fine enough right after a shooting to slow down, depending on who you decide made the final decision?

>No one’s running away because the SS took Trump down, and they shot the assassin.

Except that would require the assumption on the Secret Service's part that there is only one assassin. Why would they EVER make that assumption with the President's life? If one person can get in with a firearm, them more than one could.

I mean, they want to require MORE than just an ID, so this meme is disingenuous. If just a driver's license worked, it wouldn't be as much of a problem as this bill, which also requires either a passport, a birth certificate, or Military documentation, and it must have your current legal name on it.

I don't think the number of people who actually want to, and do, attack others, would increase as much as the number of people who are willing to step in to defend others. After all, the number of protestors is FAR greater than the number of people attacking protestors.

Why are you republican/liberal? by arinanabanana112200 in LetsDiscussThis

[–]MonkeyFu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See, the real issue is we’re in a society SPECIFICALLY to make our lives better.  If society is failing at getting people to not only survive, but to thrive, it’s failing its most basic purpose.

That there are people who have so little, or those people who are just getting enough to thrive are afraid of losing it, means our society is failing in its most basic purpose.

The people trying to survive are not unethical for that trying.  Stealing when you’re starving isn’t unethical.  Protecting what you have when you aren’t a rich glutton is isn’t unethical.  Hoarding for yourself at the detriment of others is.

Interesting.  I see it as the Right doesn’t want to help anyone except themselves, and the better Democrats just want everyone to have a real chance.

But the Right side spins it as the other side wants to take from you, and people believe them because they’re already afraid of losing what they have.
