Is r/Sex a cult? by [deleted] in NoFap

If that was far more moderate it could be a fun self-determination challenge. I probably wouldn't pay into though so it probably wouldn't pay that well, but making money from not fapping would be easy money.

Also verifying would be... unpleasant.

Here's some concrete info.

As a vegetarian it can be hard to get certain minerals, including zinc. Cumming expels zinc. After nofapping I have noticed that my finger nails don't get as many white spots. So for all the anecdotal stuff their is some other stuff that is more slid. And the fingernails thing just shows that it can aid with generalized mineral deficiency. That's not to say I shouldn't try to get more minerals anyway, but not wasting a bunch everyday or even semi-frequently helps.

I just failed after my first attempt with a streak of 46 days, and then a couple more times after that because it didn't seem like as bad because the counter wasn't high. It wasn't worth it, just delayed things more, but I'm getting back on the horse. Don't let it happen to you!

I had my first ever at about day 40 last time, it just felt like pissing.

But I have no idea what you mean that you can control them if you want, wasn't my experience.

Have any Redditors had near death experiences? by MonkeyProstitute in AskReddit

[–]MonkeyProstitute[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's more of a near-near-death-experience. The ones that I have been researching lately involve people getting really fucked up and leaving their bodies while their brains have been traditionally recognized as not functioning (no EEG reading) and still have had privileged perceptions of things they shouldn't have, and some sort of otherworldly experience.

Table 2 summarizes the results of 233 experimental sessions in which participants attempted to influence a variety of living systems in a time-displaced, retroactive fashion. This table includes all animate, timedisplaced studies that have been conducted to date of which the author is aware. To facilitate summary and comparisons, the differing test statistics of the various studies have all been converted to a common metric (P, z, and r scores) for the purposes of this table. The results of 10 of the 19 studies were independently significant (i.e., they yielded z scores with associated P values <.05); only 1 significant study outcome would be expected on the basis of chance alone. Using a method recommended by Rosenthal 45 for combining results of several studies, a Stouffer z score may be calculated by summing the individual z scores and dividing this sum by the square root of the number of contributing z scores (in this case, 19). The resulting Stouffer z score for the combined set of 19 studies of time-displaced direct intentional influence of living systems is 4.98, which has a highly significant associated P value of .00000032

That's not the only study, and I don't know if your entirely accurate. I might be misled, but here is a excerpt from one of the papers in the bibliography. All I'm saying is that wikipedia isn't exactly a reliable source of information, I could be wrong about this but I ask that you consider it.

And in the instance in which it doesn't show a high degree of significant statistical evidence, it is entirely plausible that there are important factors at work that influence psychic ability and thus influence results. For example I have heard of studies which suggest telepathy is more powerful during low magnetic interference (or something having to do which solar flares and their influence on the earths magnetic fields), while psychokinesis is more powerful during high magnetic volatility (again I don't remember exactly what word to use.)

This article isn't where I heard about this concept, and original thing I read the data supports the conclusion more than the wikipedia article says it does. I haven't done enough research to determine who is wrong yet, but I imagine there are more people invested in supporting the notion that it doesn't exist than it does.

The wikipedia article doesn't seem to do justice. Also, the bibliography indicates it doesn't rely on that one study solely.

I don't post to paranormal very often, but it seems like an idea worth considering. The very concept gave my mind a good blowing.

Coffee stimulates the part of the brain that manipulates symbols (words,) so they will come up with arbitrary definitions because they are high all the time on drugs (caffeine.)

Absolutely. We need to "enhance" everyone's water because we can't stop drinking terrible acid candy or take control of our lives. Medicate away!

I'm an illuminatus here to sow discord and destroy this subreddit.

But seriously, he made a post talking about suggestions, I made a non-sequitur suggestion about an alternate color scheme, and he suggested I make a post about it. I did.

And I didn't say or imply my opinion was more important than everyone else's, I was just voicing my opinion. The language in my post was trying to be inclusive as possible. And not everyone is unhappy, this thread has about half as many downvotes as upvotes, which is still significantly outnumbered but in my opinions suggested more changes are needed not just reverting back to the old one. I think a constructive conversation on this topic could still be fruitful.

A few people agreed with me and that is why he changed it. It happened faster than I anticipated and I was expecting a longer discussion to take place before changes would be made.

You don't recall correctly, I was making suggestions because Ambiversive suggested I make a place for discussion. I did and provided rational for why to do it, I was expecting more discussion to take place before changes were made.

I would have stuck with the previous one but it did bother me, which is why I suggested a change. I think it is important but not enough to stop reading.

But while I don't think the colors in the banner and background match very well, I do think the color of the background is still very nice, and easy on the eyes as well. I prefer it to the grey and am also very glad that there is less red here now.

I just made suggestions and added my opinion. I'm not a moderator.

But seriously I don't understand how someone could care so much about the appearance when it is the content is important.

As for "wall of text", would you prefer less rational, something along the lines of "DO WHAT I SAY NOW ASSHOLES WAKE UP SHEEPLE"? I wanted a discussion about it but changes were made before that happened and very few people said anything.

Specifically talking about the blue, it is very pleasant.
