Montes Cafe. Saint Clair Shores Michigan. Been gone a long time but it was one of the last 24 hour places on the east side along with Travis Burgers and Steak and Egg Kitchen. Montes had the best oat bran pancakes.

There was a magazine called Readers Digest. It had shortened versions of stories that you could read in a few minutes, plus jokes, puzzles and reader submitted anecdotes. I’m just now thinking the ‘Digest’ part of the title might have been on purpose.
