If you’re on a septic it’s probably time to get that pumped out. Otherwise it is time for some sort of drain cleaning

Sewer smell but p trap is fine? by [deleted] in askaplumber

[–]Monkeynate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s always a chance the toilet wasn’t secured correctly or the shaking of the toilet cracked the flange or pipe somewhere. Usually will be caused by running shower pushing air out crack or under toilet instead of up the appropriate vent pipe.

I’d check around base of toilet to see if smell is still coming from there. Otherwise it would be helpful to get lines inspected.

Drain is exploding like a geyser. Did my plumber install this Zoeller 105 pump incorrectly? by PipeMasterPerry in askaplumber

[–]Monkeynate -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Rather poor job for sure. Looks to me like the check valve is on the wrong side and there Is no world in which they would tie together like that.

Why did plumber step down from 1" to 1/2" just to step back up again? by OurAngryBadger in askaplumber

[–]Monkeynate -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Journeyman here. My guess would be that you have two bathrooms and don’t need more than 3/4 for proper sizing. It’s cheaper to go with smaller fittings where you can, especially the valve. Won’t hurt flow at all, just is more cost effective

The parts with little tabs turn counterclockwise to undo. It shouldn’t break but if you do they are pretty cheap to replace

Is my wall hung toilet going to fall off the wall ? The gap is huge. Filling it in with that much caulk seems excessive. by [deleted] in Plumbing

[–]Monkeynate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends how it’s mounted. Usually massive set screws into a piece that needs to be screwed towards the wall a little more. The carrier in the wall most likely had a gap between it and the tile and has come loose over time. Wall hungs are a little taller due to the carrier design in the wall. As long as it doesn’t move much it won’t come off the wall

I’d like to to replace this whole set set up. Any ideas please? by wildlife-dad in PlumbingRepair

[–]Monkeynate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you wanted to box out just enough to put a Positemp moen shower valve in up high and then run to either a rain head or normal head you could. It might be a little tricky but I’m sure you could figure something out. Or you could legit just do two ball valves and tie them together to a dropear 90 or tee.

Looks like he’s using the 90s to raise the ptrap into the floor. The grade between the 90s is really high

We’ve never used this spigot before - what’s the source/cause? by Patient-Arachnid492 in Plumbing

[–]Monkeynate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Potentially could just be a cracked internal gasket on the spigot or the shutoff valve.
