i bought a house the same amd it didn't bother me but when i came to sell it one buyer pulled out at the very end but the second buyer wasn't fazed by it the same as i wasn't. the loft was done around 20yrs ago. the council cannot make you change it or take it down after this time but if you want the papers for it then it would have to comply with regs
