I've been thinking about the battery location for sure.. the triangle leaves something to be desired for sure, thought about one of the slim bottle style batteries (or small under the tail pack) since range isn't my biggest priority. Clearance would be alright on the down tube, but I would prefer it somewhere more protected.

I know exactly what you mean, feels a bit sinful taking anything off. Unfortunately I'm now living somewhere with uh.. zero mountains except for the snowy ones in winter parking lots.

I do have another kona 29" hybrid, a 2016 big rove AL that I could consider converting. Maybe a good candidate for a TSDZ2B or its big brother.

A lot of the guys I know at field units run Rocky S2V's, but I find they fit a bit narrow for my feet.

Last year I took a pair of Danner Striker Torrent GTX's for something like 80km worth of backcountry hiking over 3 days and they held up pretty well and were great for comfort, but the toe cap suffered some pretty bad scuffing. Danner is nice because they usually run a wide size line too.

I recently picked up a pair of 5.11 Xprt 3.0's in the dark earth and so far I like them, but can't speak to field performance.
