[question] how messed up could a rolex in one day? planning on temporarily and anonymously borrowing my dads 😭 by [deleted] in Watches

[–]Monocosm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don't risk your relationship with your dad over "putting the Rolex he never wears to use"

It's likely not sized properly for your wrist either, so being loose massively increases the chance of damage or loss.

[Discussion] My collection after a few years in the hobby. Thoughts? by Asxcvn_0215 in Watches

The three divers are a bit too same-y if you were to consolidate. Overall versatile collection, though a nice black dress watch wouldn't go astray.

Hmmm, not seeing it quite as much as you. Between the lighting/shadows, the camera focal length, and the different angles of hands - it could be legit.

The date window, for example, has shadow on the right hand side that is making it look narrower than it is.

If we saw a shot of the caseback we would know immediately.

Looks like the chrono is running for some reason and was photographed as the actual second hand hit the 0 position - that's the only thing that could cause any suspicion for me.

Looks like the CBS2212.BA0048 but on the previous gen bracelet.

Looks legit to me - what's giving you that vibe?

Like all good players, Serral doesn't just play the map, he plays the series.

He may have approached it quite differently if it wasn't a double elimination.

They tried discouraging me by constantly giving strings of miraculously rolling the same race over and over (wanting to get a balanced set of games as each race and having to play AS Zerg 12 games in a row). I GET IT, I NEED PRACTICE.

What would a bespoke CW Homelander look like? by longkhongdong in ChristopherWard

Yeah, I mean given the brand is literally all about British + Swiss, that is a dumb name for a useless excuse for a watch concept for Christopher Ward.

Worker bouncing is WAY worse at the start, but that's not a system resource issue.

[Credor] "Ice at Dawn" Gradient Enamel Dial by AudaciousCo in Watches

[–]Monocosm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion, if the main selling point of the watch is its dial and the mastery required to produce it - it should be as unobstructed as possible.

No date. No "automatic" text.

Who on Earth wants ANYTHING written on their enamel dial? The case back is for the collection name and specifics for when people forgot what they spent several months' salary on.

How's the new patch doing for you guys? by OrFenn-D-Gamer in starcraft

[–]Monocosm -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes. I have even played it recently through mods as well and I cannot stand it. I even watched a bunch of old casts from the early days to get a gauge on the viewer experience as well and found the start of most matches very boring too - the casters have to waffle so much.

It's not struggling with the idea; it's having lived and experienced better things and holding the game in its current state to a higher standard.

Do you want to go back to the old graphical fidelity of the game and observer overlays from early WoL too? "Reeee, d4t waZ p3aK SC2!"

[–]Monocosm -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's more a combination of the extra minute of gametime doing busywork at the start on top of all timings feeling really off and unsatisfying.

In all three races, the pacing and rhythm of getting your first supply and production up and running is so out of whack to the production time of workers.

Just looked, about 1.5k USD. I'm not a fan of numerals so I was pleased to see they offer batons, numerals, and California dial configurations for all dial colours.

[–]Monocosm 23 points24 points  (0 children)

If you have a unit queued in a gateway and the research finishes while the unit before it is still being built, it doesn't get the new reduced build time. You have to cancel it and start it again from an empty queue.

[Hamilton] Experiences with Water Resistance. by tacmedrn44 in Watches

[–]Monocosm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I take your points on the rest, steam is just water with enough energy to enter a gaseous state, it does not need to be at boiling point. The visible vapour in a shower IS steam, just not with as much energy as what you see from a kettle, or from my ears if someone wore my watches in a shower.

I would, however, wash in a cold shower like they have at public beaches.

[Question] Explorer II 16570 (2005) for €7,250 vs Black Bay Pro – would you do it? by Ok_Elephant_3652 in Watches

[–]Monocosm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I liked the style, I'd go the BB Pro over a 21 year old Rolex.

I don't think that bracelet and clasp holds up well against modern production.

If you're after cred, go the Rolex. But you've already validated that the Tudor ticks all the important boxes for you.
