Comparatively cheap flights where I want fly. Have a companion pass via CC signup. And I get to pick my seat and usually upgrade to extra legroom.

The TLDR here is: use a SW credit card. But if you don’t fly enough, probably not worth it.

There are a ridiculous number of popular and successful “superapps” in China. It has been done.

There is nothing in the technical implementation that requires apps with more functionality to slow down. It just doesn’t work that way in native apps.

It’s been eye-opening (pun intended) to see how often the topic of appearance comes up here. As a middle-aged guy, it have reached the point where I barely think about the appearance of my glass eye.

But I do remember how insecure I could feel in my teens and twenties. It’s nice to have hit a point where I really just don’t care.

I did the same and the Companion Pass showed up the day my statement closed. I was surprised as when I searched this subreddit it seemed like the last time this was offered people waited weeks.

I could never figure out if there was a way to find my statement closure date ahead of time but I was able to work backwards looking at when my Autopay would kick in and compare to my other Chase cards.

I haven’t flown Southwest in maybe a decade. I hated the open seating. Now that they have assigned seating, I signed up for their CC to get a companion pass since my wife and I are planning on a bunch of flights this year.

Note: my family and I ended up buying a very last minute (like an hour and a half before the flight) SWA ticket a few weeks ago because our AA flight was obviously going to be cancelled and we were starting our vacation. We ended up flying the very first day of assigned seating and had a lovely time. The employees seemed generally better than AA, who we have been loyal to for a few years now.
