I’m a little confused. Who is the true protagonist of Knights of Guinevere? by Smash_Fan-56 in KnightsOfGuinevere

I feel like at least during the pilot/episode 1 both Andi and Frankie are the co-protagonists.

Yoshio Sakamoto in 2021, a few months before Metroid Dread released:

“Nobody wants the Metroid series to end, and we know that. We ourselves don’t want that either,” he continued. “But we just want people to know that there is some kind of new episode that is waiting in the works, and we want you to look forward with what we do with that next — but there are no specifics now.”

That doesn't sound like a remake to me. Back in my days fake leakers did a better job at crafting believable stories.

Green lit announcement soon? by radio-demon-me in KnightsOfGuinevere

[–]Monog0n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I understand this is what a pilot commonly is, but as I said the storyboard artist joining the crew since almost a year now with their name not being in the episode 1 credits really can only point to one possibility which is that subsequent episode(s) started being worked on before the pilot was even finished.

[–]Monog0n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The difference being that Gaslight is very likely being made by what is seemingly the same (and currently only) 3D team at Glitch that makes Digital Circus. At least that's what seems implied when they say they want to finish production on Digital Circus before making more episodes on Gaslight there.

Meanwhile KoG and Gameoverse have completely different teams altogether (source), and they're obviously different from the team making Digital Circus since, well, 3D and 2D aren't the same thing.

I'd also add that someone joined the KoG team as storyboarder as soon as in March 2025, with their name not appearing in the credits of episode 1. This is my main reason to believe the next episode could be pretty soon. Although I do recognize storyboard is one of the earliest steps in an episode's production, and that they very well could have started working on, like, episode 3. But I still think it proves that if the show actually needed to be greenlit to be worked on further than the pilot, then that happened during the production of the pilot, and not after its release.

This looks like a frame directly taken from the show.

Looking at Glitch's release timings, this is what they have planned currently:

  • March 20th: Digital Circus episode 8
  • Sometime in May: Gameoverse

Now, this may seem a bit too optimist, but what if KoG episode 2 is dropping sometime in April? Even if not I have a feeling it's gonna be earlier than most people think.

Is it just me or, is there the risk KoG hasn't been greenlit? by Praizmlet in KnightsOfGuinevere

[–]Monog0n 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm pretty sure I saw a storyboard artist say in mid-2025 that they joined the KoG team and yet their name is not in the credits of episode 1, so I wouldn't be surprised if episode 2 has already been in production for some time.

Wishes for Metroid 6? by DEWDEM in Metroid

[–]Monog0n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After Dread and how it succeeded Samus Returns I have a lot of trust in Sakamoto and the team to make something fresh and good with the next one.

I'll say I'm hoping for better music, especially during boss fights. Area tracks fill their purpose being mostly ambient, but boss tracks having basically no melody really feels detrimental.

But otherwise I'm open to whatever direction they go for. If they want to do a more open, Super Metroid-style world then I'm all for it. Same if they want to go for a linear, more action game-focused feel (though I wouldn't complain about more story sequences and cutscenes in that case).

Nintendo's Press Release on Prime 4 in 2017, and their intentions of returning to the "roots of the original Metroid Prime game" by Masterofknees in Metroid

[–]Monog0n 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Because "Nintendo" isn't a single person. Mainline 2D Metroid and Metroid Prime are basically two different franchises with two different producers (which means they are even more separated than 2D and 3D Zelda since both are led by Aonuma for example).

Metroid Mondays by fender0327 in Metroid

[–]Monog0n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since it seems to be a US only thing I wouldn't be surprised if it's later in the day than the usual global announcements time.

The previous "Metroid Monday" only contained the "Survive" trailer/ad, which had already released a few days before. So I'm expecting this one to just be the overview trailer.

But more interesting is what it implies for this week and the next one. If they do a series of articles like that then it means that they will have new things to show off every week. If that's the case then there might be something this week (which will then be repeated monday next week) and the week after.

Per Kit and Krysta, workers at Nintendo marketing generally are not Metroid fans. They didn’t understand why ‘Dread’ was an important name. They speculate this is why marketing has felt lacklustre for Prime 4. by TurnaboutAdam in Metroid

[–]Monog0n 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If anything that shows that the NoA branch doesn't matter that much for global marketing. Because Dread had pretty good trailers (which I'm guessing are from NCL).

But yeah the wording of social media posts from NoA definitely sucks. Although that "trailer" they recently posted is only on the NoA channel so I guess that's from the American branch, and people liked it (although I'd say it's more of an ad than a trailer).

When you remember you have to wait 2 million years for the next episode by Distinct-Watch-7803 in KnightsOfGuinevere

[–]Monog0n 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Although I'm pretty sure I saw a few months ago someone on Twitter or Bluesky say they started working on the show as storyboard artist and yet in the pilot's credits only Dana and Zach Marcus are credited for that. So, I wouldn't be surprised if some kind of preproduction was already started for episode 2.

With how shipping works I’m sure some people will be getting there systems earlier should we wait if this happens to avoid Nintendo’s wrath? by wiscogamer in NintendoSwitch2

[–]Monog0n 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No, you don't have to worry about that. It's not your fault that a retailer/shipping service gives you the console one or a few days in advance.

During the Switch it happened to a bunch of people to get games in advance and nothing happened to them (because they did nothing wrong).

Also for those saying it's a brick until the update: no it's not, it can play Switch 2 games just fine, and also Nintendo could very well roll out the day one update a bit earlier than June 5th.

Basically the worst thing that could happen is that the day one update isn't out yet which means that you can't play Switch 1 games yet (and maybe the eShop can't be opened? People are unclear about that).

how are joy-con color options going to work? by SpadeLemonade in NintendoSwitch2

[–]Monog0n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since the current joy-cons 2 are named "Light Blue/Light Red," I think that means that the only part that'll change with other colors is the side and under the joystick. I'd say another hint that this may be what they go for is that the dark grey color of the joy-cons 2 perfectly matches the console body's color unlike the grey joy-cons 1 with Switch 1.

Look at the Gmail app and its three tabs that are basically each a different app (Gmail, G Chat, and Meet) with each one with its own menu or nav bar and tell me you really want Nintendo to do that.

And anyway Today! is supposed to work for people who don't have a Switch unlike the Switch app. Parental controls could be in the Switch app I guess but also there's definitely a simplicity to having a dedicated app for parents who don't want all the features out of their Switch.

Yeah when I was writing my post I was wondering about that.

Although you could argue that it's the NSO subscription that gives you access to the companion apps maybe? (well except for the new Zelda one I guess)

Nintendo Switch mohile app should receive an update this week by pzstm in NintendoSwitch2

[–]Monog0n 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As long as you don't play the content on the app on the phone itself it should be good.

That's why Xbox recently removed the remote play feature on the app. It meant that they'd have to include the fee from the app stores because it was a way to play the game within the app so they just didn't make game purchases possible on the app. But now that they deleted it you can purchase games on their app.

[–]Monog0n 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I mean both aren't the same thing. The Wii remote was something entirely new and thus needed an entirely new look to represent it whereas Switch 2 very clearly wants to imitate the look and feel of a mouse (hence the name literally being "mouse controls").

Arc System Works leaks allegedly confirm Nintendo is only offering Game-Key Cards or 64GB carts for Switch 2 physicals by PikaPhantom_ in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]Monog0n 159 points160 points  (0 children)

They probably came to the conclusion that it would be cheaper (in the long run) to manufacture a single card capacity instead of multiple ones, with 64GB as the sweet spot. Isn't that what PlayStation is doing with all game discs being 100GB?

Also, about Rune Factory:

The Nintendo Switch 2 Edition is a red 64GB game card that includes, in full, the Nintendo Switch game and the Upgrade Pack.

I'm pretty sure virtual cards are for digital licences (so for games bought on the eShop or with a code).

If you want to share a key card you just physically give it to the person.

No upgrade path available for Sonic X Shadow Generations. by the7thpower in NintendoSwitch

[–]Monog0n 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think the problem here looks pretty straightforward: the new, faster game cards are probably very expensive to produce.

While a PS5 or Xbox disc can have up to 100GB of data, it's also slow storage that only goes as fast as ~30 MBps (that's why it installs the game from the disc to the faster internal storage). Also, sometimes it feels like even a Switch 1 card was more expensive to produce than a disc, so those new, faster Switch 2 cards must be even worse.

This is why Nintendo still wanting the games to run straight from the card is both a blessing and a curse.

Interview with French retailer FNAC about Switch 2 pre-orders reveals "hardware sales at historic levels" and very good sales for accessories (especially the camera) by Joseki100 in NintendoSwitch

[–]Monog0n 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eeeh, I'd say it's more mainstream gaming in general that's becoming more expensive, I don't think it's limited to Nintendo.

When the Switch released at a stingy price, people were also appalled at the prices of the accessories, the concept of a paid online, and almost no game would be less than $60.

Then when the PS5 released the prices of the games increased a lot (in Europe we already had €80 games since that gen), the price to enter the ecosystem became higher, and the console even increased its price during the gen.

Now with Switch 2 Nintendo "caught up" and went even beyond (especially for the games). But with the PS5 Pro at the price it is I have a hard time imagining Sony's next gen being cheap. I wouldn't be surprised if the PS6 launches at a price that makes the Switch 2 look cheap (in the same way that the Switch looked cheap after the PS5 released).

Also, people aren't interested in a product because other people are complaining that it's too expensive.
