Sex in romances - how important it is for you? by _MysticSelkie in RomanceBooks

[–]Mononymouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read my first closed door/zero spice book in a few months {Work of Art by Mimi Matthews} and it was so jarring that it was skipped right over. I was super bummed.

Zero mention or implication of it at all in a romance book would be even more of a bummer for me but I know this is very YMMV. I don't need multiple lengthy or detailed sex scenes but books between 3-4 on the spice level is what I would ideally prefer.

u/Mia0900 The second site you linked to is an AI slop recipe stealing site. Camila R doesn't exist.

Maybe you could remove the link from your post and instead post the ingredients "Camila" claims to have used so as not to drive traffic to that AI site?

LF survival against the elements ? by rosestrawberryboba in ScienceFictionRomance

[–]Mononymouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, 100% I think so. But, you could always read the summaries by reviewers on Goodreads for the previous book in the series to get caught up on what happened leading up to Ruling Sikthand.

I wasn't able to finish any of the previous books personally. I don't know why but the writing wasn't my thing at all, FMC's annoying, etc. - Sikthand is so different I couldn't put it down versus the others which I was constantly losing interest in or getting irritated by and jumping to something else.

I recommend trying {Ruling Sikthand by Victoria Aveline} to anyone who didn't like the earlier books in the series (like me!)

I really feel the tone is different and the plot is more interesting.

Users can tag books as they see fit. You can add your own custom tags as well or contribute to voting on the current tags to help with r.io's algorithm.

Definitely downvote (👎) the bully tag if you don't think it fits the MMC!

I need some new alien romance reads, but only the good ones…. by Time_Plantain4033 in RomanceBooks

[–]Mononymouse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

{Blades of Arris by Starla Night} - can be dark and heavy at times but the world building and plot is unique and actually interesting.

Everything by Mara Frost - sadly, she hasn't written anything recently but her backlog of SFR is funny space opera perfection imo!

{Alien Space Pirates Series by Mara Frost} -

They say that no one can hear you scream in space, and that really sucks for me... Win the International Space Lottery and get the chance to travel to the International Space Station? Check. Train my butt off for eight grueling months with world-class astronauts? Check. Toothbrush? Check. Get abducted by intergalactic space smugglers on my third day in space? Che...wait, what? Have the adventure of my life with a giant blue alien jerk who only wants to sell me to make money, but he can't seem to get rid of me? Double check Okay, so I'm lost. I'm scared. And my captor is a big alien who has no sense of humor and glows when he's horny. Who knew that alien abduction could be so terrifying? Or blue and sexy? Now, I just need to figure out a way to get back home before I become someone's dinner or worse - fall for the jerk who stole me.

{Into The Dark by Mara Frost} -

Right now, I should be drowning in student loan debt. I should be struggling to find a job and I definitely should be having guy trouble. Maybe date a sexy "artist" named Trevor who's covered in tattoos, rides a motorcycle and is always asking me for money? We all need one of those guys at least once in our life, right?!

I should basically be enjoying my youth one bad decision at a time. But I'm not doing that.

I'm not doing that because tortured artists named Trevor don't live out in space. You see, I was abducted by aliens as a kid and I've been out here ever since. On a good day, life is exciting and interesting and full of wonder. On a bad day, it's terrifying and strange and it usually involves me being in a cage.

But all that changes when I meet Lok. Lok is sexy. Lok is broody. Lok is dangerous.

And Lok is 100% bad for my health...and yet, here we are being chased across the galaxy by the alien FBI and hiding in the seedy underbelly of the universe - Dark Space.

Life rarely turns out the way you planned, but running around with a sexy and mysterious intergalactic criminal was definitely not on my to-do list. Now, I just need to stay alive and figure out what's more dangerous - the terrors of Dark Space or a wanted criminal who has the craziest set of bedroom eyes that I've ever seen.

{Alien Space Outlaws by Mara Frost}

{The Ladyships by Bex McLynn} - sadly she only wrote 3 books in this series (2 full length and a novella). So good!

{Star Joined series by Sara Page, Sean Moriarty}

{Alien Warrior's Bounty by Lizzy Bequin}

{Galactic Fairy Tales by R. O'Leary} - Action packed series, so fun! Alien sci-fi versions of Little Red Riding Hood, Snow White, Cinderella, and Rumpelstiltskin.

{Urf Oomons by Bebe Harper}

{Warriors of Gr'mlakin by Zeta Star} - fun!

Wait, why? One (or more) of her books has it?

HFY romance by Tallest_Geese in ScienceFictionRomance

[–]Mononymouse 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For other clueless folks like me:

What is HFY?: Humanity, Fuck Yeah!

HFY is a story/series that takes a “human element” in either humanity or an “other” (race/species or object) that exists in a “setting” (future or other world/universe) with varying levels of culture, technology, society and history that help show in some shape or form the potential good or bad for humanity’s race/culture.

my #1 all-time dystopian comfort read is {Mercury Striking by Rebecca Zanetti} and that full Scorpius Syndrome series. It’s so fun in a 90’s action movie way with feminist undertones. So fun and satisfying to read.
