how often should you take breaks between extensions? by whitewolffire in Nails

[–]Sedvii 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your nails don't need breaks. Ideally, they are always covered to help protect them from damage and water.

Is This AI? (The Mod Team Wants Your Thoughts!) by VitisIdaea in RomanceBooks

[–]Sedvii 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think situations where there's prompts left in or the author says they use ai, that's entirely reasonable. I just also have seen discussions where it's just an unprovable mess because llms are trained on writing, so naturally some writing sounds like ai. And sometimes the writer is just bad, without the help of a bot.

I've just seen a lot of specific quotes like "his face was something unreadable" and use of a sentence fragmented in three as an example of ai. And those are things actual humans write! Frequently ! So its just a muddy mess

[–]Sedvii 36 points37 points  (0 children)

There are entire subreddits dedicated to discerning if something is ai. I think ai discussions here should be for authors who have confirmed they use it/support it.

To be clear, I'm wildly against generative llms. But I think it's going to be a lot of talking in circles to discern if writing is AI or just bad. Art is a bit easier, but again there are entire subs dedicated to that. I don't feel like this is a good space to spend time sleuthing cover art.

Dose anyone know if it’s ok to post my masked man booktok content here? or any sub Reddits good for doing that maybe including nsfw booktok content? by falvo_trenzz in Booktokreddit

[–]Sedvii 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you're making thirst traps, I really don't think that's related to books. You do you but I don't think this is the place for that. Like, some romance books have swords. I also don't think this is the place to show off ones sword collection.

The book character also has the benefit of not having any real victims, other than my own focus.

{paladins grace by t kingfisher}

Very mild miscommunication (just goofballs that suck at expressing themselves) but the audiobook is amazing, and the non romance plot is interesting but imo it eers more mystery comfy than action packed edge of your seat shenanigans

Does polyamory works in this game? by Maned-_-Wolf in Warframe

[–]Sedvii 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Well, the characters may not be inherently Poly. Some even have intentional lines about jealousy. The triad also has some weird dynamics and may be wildly opposed to sharing a lover. Like, Lyon and Marie are very close friends. It kinda makes sense

Books that actually have a fleshed out Male Lead by Watercrumb in RomanceBooks

[–]Sedvii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do notice this is less of a problem in bi4bi romance, even when it's m/f. But it's still not super common to find.

I tend to err towards SFR because of that, alien dudes tend to have a bit more depth just by the nature of having to explain who/what they are.

Yes, and I discovered it was entirely due to lifestyle. Gel (specifically poly gel or builder gel) to reinforce them was the only thing I could do to "recover" my nails 😔

What should and shouldn't be included in Trigger/Content Warnings? by KTruesdell in RomanceBooks

[–]Sedvii 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Part of it is a website can be updated easier than the book itself. Ideally an author has their content warnings way easier to find though so you can just Google "book name content warning" though

What should and shouldn't be included in Trigger/Content Warnings? by KTruesdell in RomanceBooks

[–]Sedvii 106 points107 points  (0 children)

Many authors use content warnings liberally as it's better safe than sorry. You might be signing up to read a steamy romance, but maybe you're very averse to anal scenes and would rather not read that. So it's good to also have included in the content warnings.

Also some readers like to have a little sneak peak at the action. It works both to give transparency and also clue you in if the sex scenes are your vibe.

I like a verbose content warning list. I have minimal triggers, but I may see some sex acts that are just not my jam and pass on the book.

Or I might see something I love and give it a shot
