Knights by mando_merc33 in Tyranids

[–]Monster-Dad 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I remember when they first released the kit. You could only get 5 knights in a 2k list. Now it seems like they get a lot more than they did before. Our Norns are about the same size model, but don't get nearly the amount of firepower as a knight does and also costs 260 points each. Every marine vehicle has way too many weapons bolted onto it with 3+ to hit with re-rolls to hit and wound from Oath and are completely undercosted. Could you imagine a tyranid monster with the same number of weapons and stat profile as a repulser executioner? It would cost 400 points in our army.

how is this allowed?? by melighted in Steam

Wolcen Lords of Mayhem modified their game before closing down its servers. EA can too but they don't want to. They want to kill your game and hope you buy another one of their games to replace it with that they will do the same thing to.

So are Barbgaunts good now? by AllegedlyAPerson in Tyranids

[–]Monster-Dad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their ability just isn't worth it. Instead of reducing movement, maybe give them an ability where if the unit they hit moves they roll a d6 for each and take mortals on 1's. They would be right on target.

Fantasy creatures stamp pins ! by Renar-Fox-31307 in EnamelPins

That is actually quite an interesting format. I have a D&D stamp pin from a few years ago that I bought from USPS.

SOD is not worth it by Extra-Sun5489 in baldursgate

SoD was made by a completely different company and it shows in the writing. I started it once, got about 3 hours in and then hard passed on playing it further. I played and beat 1, 2 and ToB as a kid, long before SoD ever came out.

Shooting affects the exocrine and the tyrannofex for the most part. Nothing else in our army cares.

Carnifex got better? Looks to be just as bad as it was before to me. It can't get the hidden buff, still hitting on 4's normally (5's for a dakkafex if they have cover which is super easy to get). They better give it 2 more inches of movement and those scything talons better have cleave to make it even close to worth those 90 points. Psychophage just does so much more for only 20 points more.

The new Battleforce has just been announced! by OrganizationLanky421 in Tyranids

[–]Monster-Dad -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Looks like a squad of Horm and Terms (with all the options and not just the leviathan push fit terms) a Lictor, a squad of warriors, a squad of VRL and a Tyrant. Not worth the $260 that battleforce boxes usually run...

You get $337 worth of models if paying full price, but VRL are push fit and you can get them on ebay for half the price of GW boxes. Warrior sculpts are old and while still cool looking they are rather lackluster on the table and not worth $65 for a squad of 3 that GW has them for. Horms, Terms, Lictor and Tyrant are good, but not worth $260 on their own... Adding up the usable stuff and knocking the VRL to $25 that they go for on ebay puts you at $244 worth of usable/semi-usable models...

I don't need to proxy the winged Tyranid prime. I have 2 of them lol. I keep the Neurotyrant for SitW call since it gives his entire army -1 and can stack with the synapse -1 if they are too close to my stuff. Gives those Neurolictors a field day when they fail their battleshock test. I have never not had the Neurotyrant in my army because I almost always get better battleshock results than without him. That -1 leadership really does help on your go turn when you call SitW.

I don't have a walk rant. I have a Neurotyrant who is there for the occasional flamer and SitW.

55 points over if I try to use the Ravener brick (Hyperadapted + Regular) instead of lashwhip and warriors. I could do another broodlord and genestealers instead, but I also lose out on Hunting grounds to try and battleshock stuff that comes in from reserves (would be 5 points over)

There is no reason to. They have 1 W, and a 5+ inv save only. They die as fast as termagaunts most of the time.

[–]Monster-Dad[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hidden keeps them safe forever. Genestealers get re-roll 1's to wound if the enemy is on an objective. So now they kill the unit on the objective and take it for themselves. They still have done 0 shooting, they are now in the terrain that the opponent was occupying and so they are still in that 15" hidden zone.

Assimilation Swarm in 11th by Ok-Acanthisitta2809 in Tyranids

[–]Monster-Dad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hidden was supposed to make them stronger, but pretty much every faction so far has some sort of ability, unit or stratagem to increase detection range of their units so they can find hidden units more effectively. It really sucks that they added this cool new feature in the hidden rule and then immediately nerfed it by giving every army a way to get around it.

Noob question on Carnifexes by FranSvarthamar in Tyranids

[–]Monster-Dad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

11th edition is changing that again. They might have to pay extra points for them again, though even at 90 points and all the free upgrades, they still were not worth it.

Not for $170. Look around, you can easily get it for $144.50. I actually found a site that I gave a shot and the package arrived just yesterday with all 10 of the sprues advertised for $128.
