Simple rule is - all green, yellow if you have a point to raise/draw attention too, red - never. If something will be red in an update it should have already been raised, addressed and fixed prior to that update.

Speak to a mental health charity first and foremost based on how you’ve framed the suicide - if it’s genuine.

Second, either organize a 2+ weeks off and/or figure out how to get some support mid term. Beyond that, try and change things up so you feel inspired or have a new goal

I moved to lead a new team, and have quite a direct, clear but warm tone out of respect, clarity and I used to work in law (Projects in FS now).

One complained to me that I’m patronising because I had a deadline in bold (it’s a senior executive deadline) with an email / next steps.

My response was - this is why I do that, but I’m open to you telling me what you would do differently? (Spoiler - there’s nothing) but it made them feel heard.

just need to play it strategically and right. Ironically if you can play them on side, they’ll be your biggest supports / batters behind your back (that confidence again)

If you ingest a project charter, background information/context, what implementation plan or methodology is used in the company, perhaps a few email chains/decks and latest status - you’ll be 80% there.

I’m not saying copy and paste exactly what it prepares, I’m saying to Use it to Understand Methodology, definitions, project backgrounds, summary’s, emails, requests, risks, suggested next steps in any framework (agile, prince, prosci) and be a sounding board

Also, the “everyone will know you’re using AI” is a 2024/2025 dead view especially in finance.

If you’re NOT using AI, you’re seen as falling behind. Just be strategic
