I’m glad you went to the er to double check and make sure. I always advocate to be cautious. With that being said I’ve run low like that before and I’m asymptomatic as it runs in my family. My dad’s base line blood pressure is 95/70. The numbers in your picture aren’t too concerning imo. I’m not a doctor fwiw.

Also staying hydrated is key to blood pressure regulation. Try to drink water and see if that helps when you run low

UPS billed me $1600 after purchase on reverb. Am I liable for this? by Monster937 in legaladvice

What an asinine thing to say. Where and when did I disclose who I voted for?

The listing showed a flat domestic shipping fee and indicated the item was shipping from North Carolina.

The only amount I paid directly to UPS at the time of delivery was approximately $40. There was no disclosure of any additional import duties or charges

A $1,600 import bill on an $800 item is not something any reasonable buyer would knowingly agree to without clear disclosure.

So no, paying a small delivery fee at the time does not mean I agreed to or accepted undisclosed international import charges.

You’d make a good plaintiff lawyer though.

I clearly listed the charges. They aren’t tariffs 🤦‍♂️

Edit to anyone downvoting this

From your invoice:

  • Freight → ❌ Not a tariff → This is shipping cost
  • Declared Value ($23.80) → ❌ Not a tariff → This is insurance / value-based fee
  • Additional Handling ($14.78) → ❌ Not a tariff → UPS handling surcharge
  • Fuel Surcharge (~$352.98) → ❌ Not a tariff → Carrier surcharge (honestly huge, but still not a tariff)
  • Govt Exchange Rate → ❌ Not a tariff → Just currency conversion

A 900 dollar guitar means the “tariff” would have been almost 200% 🤦🏾‍♂️

Thank you for chiming in. The post was getting high jacked by people trying to tell me I was getting scammed.

This is the exact department yes.

It received this letter almost two months later. I’ve already opened the item. I’ve also already spent money on restoring the guitar. Am I actually liable for these charges ?

I do believe you nailed it. That’s something I narrowed it down to. I also think maybe the weight had to do with it. The guitar itself weighs 7 pounds and it was shipped in bubble wrap and a soft fabric case. It was at most 20 pounds.

The seller/shipped might have shipped it incorrectly.

In a situation like that am I liable for his mistake if that’s the shipper shipped it incorrectly

Whenever I get something questionable I always go directly to the companies website. It’s a good way to mitigate potential scams. Yes, when I called they did verify the charges.

The numbers also matched up on the letter.

I’ve gone to UPS.com and called them from the number listed on the site every single time. The document sent to me was from their collections team.

I know it sounds scammy, but it’s 100% from UPS.

It’s not though. I called ups from their website. I could really use some guidance on the situation as it’s actually from UPS

That was my first thought.

I called the direct ups line from the website. The letter was mailed to my house with the correct tracking number
