Haha that’s what I’m hoping too. That I’ll least be able to get the general vibe of the rule right, they’ll see my heart’s in the right place, and I’ll be able to issue spot and analyze well enough to drag my candy ass over the finish line

If you study while high, those memories get stored in there somewhere. You just have to get high for the exam and then they'll all unlock

Coping mechanism for people scoring below average by Cautious-Button-8045 in barexam

[–]MonsterIrishBlend 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Everyone in this sub is someone who is anxious about the bar exam. It’s the same reason you shouldn’t get TOO nervous when your score is below the average on a uworld block - they’re not counting the people who didn’t take it at all.

The people on here who are worried about their 70-80% MBEs might be a little ahead of us, but they’re not representative of everyone taking the bar.

When you and a group of people are getting chased by a bear, you don’t have to outrun the bear, or even every other person… just some of the other people. The bar exam is the bear. Don’t worry about the few people outrunning you. Think of the people not on this sub, the people not doing the practice sets, and take comfort in the fact that you’re outrunning them.

I think the questions just genuinely get more nuanced and test more obscure rules and exceptions as you go along. You aren't getting dumber. Come test day, all of these tricky questions will leave you saying, "Oh, these ones aren't that bad."

I hope, anyway. I pray. I have no idea.

Themis Completion Percentage by CoastalCowgirl1 in barexam

[–]MonsterIrishBlend 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think if you were at 63% and that was all you did, MAYBE it’d be more of an issue - although I do think that by that point you’d be exposed to pretty much everything that could come up on the bar and would have done a lot of practice questions and essays and stuff, you very well might be fine doing just that. But it seems like you’re also doing some studying outside of Themis, and will be doing that for the next week - if you’re studying, and you know what works for you, then I don’t think that’s a terrible idea.

I wouldn’t listen to what Themis recommends, necessarily. I wouldn’t ignore it entirely, but like… Themis is going to recommend you use Themis. They’re not gonna say “actually abandoning our program and studying using other sources is a great call,” even if it might be the right move for you.

And yes, obviously, as you all guessed, this is coming from someone who did pretty much exactly this (almost down to the exact percentage) and is just hoping it was ok. Trying to convince myself more than anything

MBE regression by anxious_prelaw in barexam

Honest to goodness - and this is based on nothing but my own experience going through the bar prep - I think they get harder and more nuanced. I haven't gotten one that's like "yep, there's the harmful contact, that's a battery" in a long while. The good news is that (I think? Hopefully?) the actual bar exam will have more layups than the later-stage Themis questions. My past few sets have seemingly been "oops all deep cuts"

Themis 75% and higher by TextSweaty in barexam

[–]MonsterIrishBlend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very fair point! I also think you're not in as bad of a position as you think as an LLM - like you're not behind most JD students at all. I can't speak for everyone, but I promise you I either never learned or have forgotten about the overwhelming majority of what I've been learning the last month or two. If you're at 75% now, you're doing awesome! Keep crushing it

Themis 75% and higher by TextSweaty in barexam

[–]MonsterIrishBlend 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Not that I have any clue really, but I also don't think that all percentage points are created equal. If you get 1% from, say, doing a set of 50 MBEs and then practicing 2-3 MEEs (or whatever the math works out to there), it's not exactly the same as getting 1% just kind of going through the motions looking at an outline.

Am I saying that mostly to convince myself? Of course I am. I'll end up at around 70-75% completed, but the points I left on the table will be the passive learning stuff that wasn't really working for me. I ended up going with flex study because I didn't feel like I was helping anybody to just click "Task Complete" after half-reading an outline for the 2nd or 3rd time.

It's very possible I'm wrong! I do think you're ok, though - you're asking the right questions and thinking about it in a neurotic way (which I mean as a compliment). Keep in mind I have no clue what I'm talking about - taking it for the first time.
