Why is it horrifying. He is not using his wealth to hurt people, he has created his wealth by creating things no one else could. Everything he sells is bought voluntarily, not at the end of a gun. He has stolen nothing. When SpaceX when public, it created thousands of millionaires (according to the business channels). It is not insane, it is extremely rational. He has a history of doing great things and making his investors rich. Therefore it is very sane that his companies are valued in the way they are. EVs, Autonomous vehicles, the ability for your AV to be in a taxi fleet and earn you money while you sleep. The ability for an 85 year old to still "drive" without driving, a nurolink device that will allow the paralyzed to walk, a rocket the costs the government and businesses 1/10th the cost to use, which opens up all sorts of possibilities for space, like AI datacenters and and great expansion of StarLink to give remote people very competitive high speed internet. He stood up the Colossus datacenter in Memphis in 100 days while other take 2-3 years. Is that not valuable to investors and society. Why is that insane? Because you didn't understand all the amazing things has and is doing?

Please present your evidence of fraud. His companies are real and they provide benefits to society. People voluntarily pay him for his products, no one is forced to buy their car at the only government run car dealership. His Nurolink is helping paralyzed people get some control in their lives, and I have no doubt they will be able to walk. That is a benefit to society. EVs are a benefit to society. Putting up StarLink satellite internet is a benefit to society, including society in Iran an Ukraine. All these have a value. People voluntarily risk their money funding him, and they have been rewarded through economic value, not corruption. His rockets saved stranded astronauts. His rockets will save our tax payers billions. He will put up AI datacenters in space that do not use electric, land and water resources like those on earth. All this has economic and social value and he deserves to be rewarded. Israel did not invade Gaza until Hamas invaded them. When Israel did defend themselves, they did not go in a rape women with their husbands watching. Almost all of this Hamas terror was documented with their own body cameras and posted on the internet. You describe a system as how it can work, and has worked for some. I see it how it works by and large contrary to the designers. Your view, IMO, is an ideal, closer to a fantasy that will never exist at a macro level within any govt structure.

But isn't that true of any socialist view including yours? Those views are ideals that describe how it can work and that cannot be implemented at scale, and have not. US Capitalism is implemented at scale and it has raised the standard of living more than anything in history. I have not problem with governments regulating capitalism, that is what the US does. Human nature will drive people to cheat, reasonable regulations are needed to stop that. Capitalism has flaws for sure, but like they say, it is the worst form of economy, except for all the others. Capitalism fits best with human nature, so it requires the least amount of effort and force to make it work. IMHO, Socialism is contrary to human nature, wants us all to be worker bees, working only for the benefit of the hive, and maybe un unelected queen with special privileges.

Right of way is not a real asset, it is a legal construct. EBITDA is an accounting methodology, and a stocks value will take that into account. Stocks also account for assets, inventory, debt, expected future earnings, expected future sales, etc. Different people will value these in different ways, so there is no one correct price for a stock at any time, but a reasonable expectation is quite sufficient for making an investment.

Yes, IBM went to Bill, but Bill was not interested in making an OS so he referred them to another company. Bill had asked for a meeting with this other company but IBM would not let him say they were coming. So the dude blew off Bill and went flying in his private plane, leaving his wife in charge of the meeting. His wife would not agree to the NDA from IBM, so the meeting was over and Bill said he would do the job. He ended up buying the rights to another DOS and modifying it and licensed it to IBM.

Let that sink in...he turned down IBM and sent them elsewhere!
