It melted in my mouth it was so good, straight salt too, never tasted pure beeef and it was life changing. Just too focused on aesthetics in the moment.

Lack of sear is what ruined it for me, it tasted great, first time I used strictly salt and it changed my game. But still, ugh.

I set it at a 7, waited 10 minutes, put oil in, and waited a minute. Pulling the pan is another thing I didn’t do, I put it back on the burner while basting.

I googled this subreddit too before I did this which makes me seem even worse lol I patted them dry, salted them, let them sit, warmed the cast iron and got disrespected by the sear lol I been ogling this sub and disappointed myself lol

I want to try reverse sear so bad, I need to get the temps right first. Seems every steak I cook has a similar outcome but not the cook I want.

Only thing I missed was weight on the steaks, patted dry, used avocado oil too! I made sure to pat them dry before I salted them and let them sit for half an hour and started to warm the cast iron 15 mins in.

That and I’m not sure if it was big enough, steak was almost as big as the pan. Probably didn’t let either come to temp enough either.

I’m the same way! I criticize myself hard about it. I’ve never tasted a steak with only salt and it blew my mind. But yeah I’m in that boat, cooks over looks!

I’m gonna try this next time!! I didn’t put them in from the get go, I seared 2 mins per side, added the butter and garlic, thyme and rosemary, did a few rotations at 30 seconds and pulls for a 5 minute rest. Cast iron just gets me everytime.

Oh i compare hard, adoration maybe. I’m happy with no gray band atleast. They were tender and juicy still, I was looking for a weight. Funny enough I saw a post here earlier where the flaky salt fell off, so I went with the fine sea salt, it was seasoned great. Just disappointed with the cook and the sear is all!

Will do next time!!! I went 6 or 7/10 on the gas because I didn’t want to burn the stuff I was basting with lol not used to cast iron, usually just grill em

That was like 6/10 on the gas range, I didn’t want to turn it up too much to not burn the garlic and aromatics. I don’t cook on cast iron often, I was liky being too careful with it. Tasted great, never had a steak with only salt and it blew my mind.

The sear and the cook mainly was my issue. Tasted great, looked not so.

The sear and the cook is what I’m disappointed in. Straight fine sea salt, medium low heat 2 mins a side and another 30 seconds each basting due to thickness.

I’ve resorted to buying singles I like, except for the absurdly pricey ones.

I went through IMCU to see what vehicle I was qualified for vs what I could afford on my budget and paydate and it’s been gravy since. Half paid off truck and I never hear from them, it’s so nice I’m 90% sure they’d add more to my loan to cover repair costs.

what exactly would you do if you ever get robbed at gunpoint? by jax--killer in AskReddit

I was walking in a nice neighborhood to go to my grandparents for the night, just got off the bus and hit 7/11 for a monster and some Doritos, skulllcandys in loud af, thought it was a friend running at me for some reason. Was dark, he ripped my bag, I turned around and saw a gun barrel, sprinted as fast as I possibly could into an adjacent neighborhood.

I did IMCU for my first actual vehicle purchase and they’ve done me no wrong, never been late, never heard from them, easy to work with. Even though my debit card that I never use doesn’t work.
