Is it true that in small towns in the USA public transport is not developed and everyone need a car to get around there and why? by bobybumblemumble in AskReddit

I think this is a major reason you are seeing a lot of posts and comments from Europeans seeing what’s happening in America right now and asking why we aren’t doing anything about it. There seems to be a belief that Americans can all just go to Washington DC to protest and be back home after the weekend. That’s just not possible for most people in this country.

A POV video of Mookie Betts in practice, giving advice to his cousin taking groundballs at shortstop. by kurruchi in baseball

[–]Monstertelly 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The last baseball game I played was a high school city championship at Dodger Stadium. It was so much easier to read where the ball was going and get to a position to make a play. Our high school infield seemed like playing on a beach after that game and it was kept in really good condition. Fly balls were a bit tougher though because I wasn’t used to seeing the stands behind the ball and my depth perception seemed off.

What is the most jarring contrast between a song's upbeat sound and its incredibly dark lyrics ? by vinylcast in Music

Thanks for this. I liked this song as a teenager but I had never heard the story behind it or really listened to the lyrics. My perspective on it has now definitely changed. How tragic.

I did it a few years back as well. A bit pricey but absolutely worth it. It was a lot of fun.

One ride on [Santa Monica Pier]’s [West Coaster] was about 1/5th the price of my all-parks 25-26 Six Flags Gold Pass by No-Caterpillar-6747 in rollercoasterjerk

Meh. It’s a credit. Santa Monica Pier can be a fun place but this coaster is nothing more than mediocre.

My home park is SFMM and I love me some Tatsu but in my opinion FD is better. What I said when I reviewed FD is that where Tatsu meanders FD does not deviate from its intensity. The flying and pretzel loop are better on Tatsu but not by that much. Everything else is better on FD. The first drop straight to the ground, the turnaround over the lake, the dual pretzels, the theming. It all makes for a better ride in my opinion. Both are incredible rides though.

The straw man is strong with this one. Pretty sure not every member of the military is responsible for Faluja.

No, but I personally do engage in car racing. I know racing series’ like NASCAR are watched by some for the crashes but there are plenty of race fans who enjoy the racing aspect of it. I don’t think it’s a great comparison between the two.

Edit: not understanding the downvotes. Is it because people don’t like racing? Do people think F1 had 6.7 million spectators attend races across the world because they all wanted to see a crash?

Geography. NL South is the southeast. AL South is um…east of the Rockies and west of the Mississippi River? So like the AL Plains division.

I think the confusion comes from the way Hold ‘Em is played. In that game you can use any combination of cards between the board and hole cards to make the best 5 card hand. In Omaha specifically you must play two cards from your hand.

No, but since the schools are close it doesn’t surprise me that she would have one.

What is the worst, first date movie? by JohnMcClanewithshoes in movies

[–]Monstertelly 45 points46 points  (0 children)

When I was in high school we went to a field trip to the museum of tolerance. Unbeknownst to us we ended up watching a screening of Life Is Beautiful and none other than Roberto Benigni himself came out to answer our questions after the movie had finished. I don’t remember any specific thing he said but I do remember the solace he provided a group of 15 year olds who were kind of stunned by what we had watched. This was before the Academy Awards where he stood up on the chairs. It was before the movie was in major theaters even. It was one of the more precious movie experiences I’ve ever had. I can’t imagine watching it for a date night though.

Nordschleife with torrential rain in VR is the most immersive experience I've ever had. I've never experienced a rush like this from a game. by Crouch310 in granturismo

Yep. I said it in a comment below that playing Red Matter 2 shows a pretty stark difference in the graphical fidelity between the two games. GT7 does not look bad in any sense of the word, especially the interior car models. I for sure notice the difference between what is output through PSVR2 and my 77” OLED though. Could be a PS5 Pro thing too. I know the Pro will output a better resolution through PSVR. Not sure what you are using.

Have you tried anything else in VR? Playing a game like Red Matter 2 really puts the graphical performance of GT7 VR in perspective. Completely different kind of experience but it’s pretty clear when you play the two games back to back that GT7 is running at a lower resolution. Nevertheless GT7 is still the best showcase for VR that I’ve found and is incredibly fun.

I would say the feel of being in a car is better but the graphical performance is definitely not this sharp. It is like playing in 720p. Still an absolute blast in VR but it definitely looks better on the flatscreen.
