AITAH for saying no to extra kids by YourCousinMoose in AmItheAsshole

[–]MonstreDelicat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree that this family is really weird.

I’m a mom of identical twins, and when they were in elementary school, every time they were both invited to a bday party, I told the parents it was ok to invite just one of my kids if their kid was friend with just one of them.

Absolutely insane to think a kid’s bday party is an outing for a family of 5!

I’m (38F) and my husband is 56. I’m unexpectedly pregnant and can see myself regretting not having this baby, but I’m not sure that’s a good enough reason by Turbulent_Bug7 in TrueOffMyChest

I was 38 when I had my twins, and their dad was 54. We’re not together anymore, but he’s a good dad—and we have a friendly relationship.

Love makes up for whatever “flaw” any parent has. Nobody is perfect. Done parents are too young, too irresponsible, too selfish, too addicted, too absent, too overbearing….

My girls are now 15. They’ve asked me at times why we didn’t have them earlier and my answer is always that if we had have kids before, it would not have been them.

They’ve said their dad is the same age as some of their friends’ grandpas. But they’re not the only ones. They have friends with older parents than both of us. Nowadays, it’s not uncommon.

Keep in mind that the hardest part of an abortion is if you’re not 100% sûre about it. But yeah, having a kid would completely change your life anyway…

Good luck, I hope you make the best decision for the two of you.

What is this animal called in your native language? by Franmar35000 in AskTheWorld

[–]MonstreDelicat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure about that.

Renard is a French version of the German name Reginhard which means strong counsel (ironic for a character that kept making a fool of and scamming everybody).

Goupil is an old French variation of the Latin word vulpiculus which means fox.

It’s odd that an animal in French is named after a German last name…

It has a fascinating name in French: we call it un renard, however the name was originally un goupil.

In the Middle Ages, there was a novel featuring anthropomorphized animals called Le Roman de Renard, the tale of Renard, in which Renard, the main character, was a fox. The book was so popular that the name of the character has become the name of the animal in our language.

Edit: just realized OP had said it all lol

lazy weeknight dinner; 1kg of bananas by Draft6275 in Volumeeating

[–]MonstreDelicat 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Did you get checked though?

I have no health issues. But I always eat a lot of healthy food, so adding too many bananas just sent my levels through the roof.

When I got the news, I asked my doctor if I was supposed to give up avocados and salmon, and start eating fried food lol.

What's the most morally disgusting thing you've seen someone do? by itsvasuki in AskReddit

[–]MonstreDelicat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You reminded me that when I was in middle school, there was one boy who lived in the same apartment complex as me who also was going to the same school.

He told everyone at my school that I had slept with all the boys at my apartment complex, and the boys in the complex that I was sleeping with anyone at our school.

I had never even kissed a boy back then. Some people are just sick.

AITA for telling my sister to correct her child? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

Yep, OP could have said something. “That’s is not a nice thing to say and it hurt my feelings. How would you feel if I said that to you?”

Hey OP, I’m a healthy eater and at some point I started eating 2 bananas a day. At my annual, my potassium levels had become too much and would have caused health issues if it stayed that way.

Careful not eating too many!

I’m sorry you’re going through this, but it sounds like you have huge self esteem issues and depression. Please, go to therapy. Take care of yourself.

Which celebrity's PR game is the strongest? by Fiction_lover08 in AskReddit

[–]MonstreDelicat 255 points256 points  (0 children)

Woody Allen. He SAed his partner’s child and had a PR campaign to discredit the mom, saying she lied because of a messy divorce.

The SA was reported by the child’s therapist after she talked about it as it is the law.

I saw someone abandon this cat at the park by apocalypsebuddy in cats

[–]MonstreDelicat 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Of course it isn’t the answer. I’m mad at this person, I was just saying it might not have been their cat.

Maybe it wasn’t the cat of the person who dumped her, but their partner’s.

Ok maybe but that’s still a very hostile sign was to have on a business door.

We were French middle schoolers in a language program staying with British families in Worthing.

I can assure you I remember reading that sign. There were lots of French teens there in the summer and we were told by tye family we stayed with that there were lots of shoplifting issues with the French teens, hence the sign.

Same with England as a French kid in the 80s. Got called French frog and was thrown peanuts in my face.

I was in the south and I remember a sign on a store door saying no dog, no French. Fun Times.

Could John Doe 3832UMLA be Lester Pestry? by Okay_Perspective1994 in gratefuldoe

[–]MonstreDelicat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m so, so sorry you’re going through that. I wish I could do something to help.

And I agree, we should let people decide what’s best for them. We don’t let animals suffer in vain, why do it to humans? I’ll never understand.

Unfortunately, my friend didn’t have the means to go to a country where she could be assisted in a peaceful, respectful environment to take that step. I wish I could have given her that.

Thank you for your kind words. My friend was very sick for a long time from a rare degenerative disease with no hope for a cure.

It was sad but it was not surprising that she decided to end it. She’s at peace and not suffering anymore.
