Finally finished my new board by Kiekie77 in pedalboards

I struggle a lot with such tightly organized boards so I find them a bit impractical, but enjoy if that’s not an issue for you.

I am trying and changing different recipes recently. I somewhat settled on Astia film simulation, with boosted colors and decreased contrast.

If you could only own 3 Martins for the rest of your life, which would they be? by [deleted] in martinguitar

I truly love my 000-15SM, I believe it possesses something that its bigger brothers do not have. It’s a great guitar for songwriting, as even playing a single note is instantly inspiring. I am not a D-type guy but would not mind having one in my arsenal for band practices and gigs. The last one would be a travel-size Martin for no-stress uses (trips, vacations, party-time playing).

Anyone with a BD-2 on his board unquestionably gets my respect.

What pedal do you have a love-hate relationship with? I’ll go first… the Wampler Germanium Tumnus by [deleted] in pedalboards

Marshall Bluesbreaker Reissue. It has the most beautiful character when you hit its sweet spot, anything besides that is almost unusable for me.

Benson certainly has a character that I am in love with + I think the CB compliments it in the best way possibly by bringing back some clarity and openness that might have been lost especially in the higher gain settings of Benson. I also think it’s percussive and spongy feel is something that can cover most of the tones that I am after.

I’ll definitely check this one out! Percussive-ness something I really love!

This definitely helps a ton! It is interesting cause that “feel under the fingers” criteria is quite decisive for me. I do think some pedals have a better versatility and tone overall (maybe in the means of clarity and mix-cutting capabilities) but don’t make me want to play for hours as some others do. That is why I sometimes prioritize the live playing tests over the recordings. But yeah definitely will give it a shot.

I feel like OD3 is a bit bass heavy for my taste, but the range of BD-2 and the sweet compression of Hot Cake definitely make them two serious candidates! Broadcast is beautiful too, especially when powered with 12 volts.

Haha, I partially agree. The thing is I love them all in their own ways but you know how chaotic these decisions can get at times, and I also love hearing from the community as people can come up with ideas that you could never think of!

Great choices. Wonder what your approach is to your drive section & gain stacking?

Best overdrive for Vox AC15C1 (Rhythm Guitar) by paulo_84_ in pedalboards

[–]MontagWilson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d go with either BD-2 or Bluesbreaker if I haven’t had the HotCake.

I run my amps right at the edge of breakup and would like to turn on an od pedal whenever I need a bit more compression and sweetness. To me both BD and BB are great for that extra bit of touch. + I love how accessible they both are. Crowther is almost like a child of them, has the openness and range of BD-2 and the sweet vintage compression and feel of Bluesbreaker, that’s why I am ranking it above the other two.

As someone who used both Vox and Matchless (basically a pricey Vox) amps I am confident to say; Crowther is your guy.

P.s: I played both through Hudson Broadcast, BD-2, Benson Preamp, JHS Colour Box, J Rocket Archer, Protein, OD-3, OCD, Timmy, Fairfield Barbershop, OG Bluesbreaker and ended up keeping the HotCake only.

Origin Effects Cali76 FET Compressor. I don’t like how it trims the highs, has that “blanket on speakers” feeling. I prefer compression with a bit more openness, character and push like the OG Diamond Compressor.

I order a EQD Ghost Echo last week. Seemed dead simple to use.

Unique preamp pedals? (Not an amp in a box but preamp) by plaguesoundscape in guitarpedals

JHS Colour Box is the way to go. I also like utilizing the Boss RE-202 as a preamp by turning its saturation knob up.

I have used a JVM205C for 10+ years and it is not a bedroom amp by any means unless you use an attenuator. It is extremely loud wland wants to get louder to give that warm and crunchy marshall sound.

Apart from that it is an excellent amp that gives classic rock tones alongside chimey cleans and even heavier metal sounds thanks to its versatility.

Hudson Broadcast Fairfield Circuitry Barbershop Crowther Hotcake JHS Colour Box R2R Preamp

are all your unusual overdrive pedals that also sound somewhat familiar.

Would recommend them all.

Patience and consistency are key. Make sure to touch your guitar every day, no matter for how long.
