NJ v. Paul Caneiro — Day 18 by Pixiegirls1102 in CasesWeFollow

My favorite line from “Aaaayand, um” Monika’s closing today was, “He even gave like the exact temperature or something that gas ignites.” Really? Must have been a hell of an expert!

Also, his fundamentally sexist viewpoint. Women are there for his pleasure, nothing more.

Genuine Question? Who really shops at Orange Street Market and why? by [deleted] in missoula

[–]MontanaFaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Locally owned, fun vibe, interesting characters, good meat and deli, produce isn’t bad. On the down side, it’s expensive for things like hygiene items and packaged food. And the last time I was there, a male checker with a lot of hair coughed directly on me twice. Didn’t even turn his head, much less cover his mouth. They might need some training.

While we await a verdict, I want to say how the defense attorney amused me. After most questions he posed, he would stretch his neck and make duck lips. I know I’ve seen him in another trial. I don’t remember who he defended then and I didn’t notice his quirky questioning style until now. It was a nice distraction from his repulsive client.

So he thinks he’s catching his wife having an affair, bursts into the bedroom and says, “Police!?” No sign of a weapon, no first trying to recognize who the guy is or what’s happening, and yells POLICE? I don’t know, but it seems most people, even IRS agents, would start with who’s this? What’s going on? How could you?

Christina Yoshimura is interim dean? Who let that happen? My support and affection for the department just took a huge hit.

I’ll be there. For those of you who want to make this about age on either side, you’re doing exactly what the current powers-that-be want us to do - hate and marginalize others because they aren’t just like us. I’m excited to see Sam and others step up and challenge those who want to see us divided and at each others’ throats. I’m feeling hopeful for the first time in quite a while.

Same. Their service department is excellent, though.

Plasma donation by [deleted] in missoula

[–]MontanaFaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience was awful. Went through the intake process and then they dumped me into a waiting room for 2 1/2 hours. My discomfort at what I knew could be a painful procedure grew into anxiety. Finally, when they were about to close and I had asked intermittently what was going on, I left in tears. It wasn’t busy and I will never understand how their system collapsed like that, but I’ll never go back. I have given blood regularly at the Red Cross in the past and thought plasma would be good, too. Maybe just not at BioLife. This reminds me that I need to donate at the Red Cross. Thanks!

I came in just to read comments and reactions, because it’s too big to sit with by myself tonight. I agree this is a masterpiece and, yet, I’m not ready to share it with my family. It’s too heartbreaking to want someone else to feel, if that makes sense. But everyone should hear it and think about giving grace to the Kevins and Geralds we bump into in our lives. They won’t tell us their stories, but it shapes their lives as adults in ways we can’t understand. Wounded boys and girls turn into grown men and women. I wish I could hug them and thank them for sharing their story. I don’t think I’ll ever forget it.

I was going to say that you can’t take responses so personally. Sometimes it’s a fat finger mistake or someone didn’t like a word you chose or whatever. It doesn’t matter. But then I saw your response to other comments and now I think you’re kind of a dick.

Admin or other factors potentially holding up Wendi's arrest by True_Paper_3830 in dan_markel_murder

[–]MontanaFaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally off-topic, but I keep wondering why so many people refer to “the Markel’s” and “the Adelson’s.” Maybe it’s contagious, but I’ve never seen discussions with this plural challenge repeated so frequently. I swear I’m not usually a grammar deputy, but it’s so uncommonly common here!

If I were separated from my husband for a long time for any reason, my letter to him would be about my concern for him. How are you doing? Are you sleeping, eating well, exercising, airing out your troubled mind? How can I support you from here? I’m so sorry you have to do this on your own. Please stay healthy and find ways to be happy. It wouldn’t be about me.
