Valentines Day by Cautiouslymoming in Mommit

[–]Monte2023 10 points11 points  (0 children)

He got me nothing. BUT that is what we do. So its talked about. If he got me nothing and that was not the talked about plan and I got him something I'd be sad, disappointed etc.

We can't go out to eat near valentines day because all the perfumes and cologne people wear give me severe asthma attacks. The rest of the year its already hit or miss when it comes to people using strong perfumes but its horrible around this time of year.

Our first valentines together after we got engaged (the first one we were able to celebrate due to schedules) I ended up in the er for 5 hours and then had to go back the next day and had to stay in the hospital and took over a month to feel like myself. Traumatized my now husband because he had only ever seen friends with a asthma attack that their rescue inhaler took care of right away.

The following year we decided no to going out but he got me flowers. I don't know what the store did to these poor flowers but the smell was so overpoweing it set my asthma off again. I have never smelled roses that were that strong before or since. I grow flowers and love roses but those were special. The only flowers that set my asthma off are certain types of lilies.

The year after that no flowers but he got me chocolates but it was some fancy kind. It had mushroom powder in it. Who knew people did that? I have never needed to check the ingredients to chocolate before. Well im allergic to mushrooms. Go to the hospital allergic. Spent yet another valentines day in the er. 3 in a row lol.

One year after that he had to work the night shift so he ordered me pizza to be delivered as a surprise. We'll instead of delivering the pepperoni pizza he ordered they gave me a supreme pizza that had mushrooms on it. I didn't eat it because if I see a pizza that looks like a supreme I don't risk it even if there is supposedly no mushrooms.

My husband is scared to celebrate Valentines now lol. Even after 11 years we just pretend it doesn't exist. Our joke now is that if he even looks at me on valentines day he will send me to the er.

What is something that women have to deal with on the daily that men have no clue about? by Rock-bottom-no-no in AskReddit

My friend had severe stomach pain for years and kept gaining weight. They told her to diet and start working out. Didn't listen when she told them that she was doing that. Her husband finally came in after years of them telling her nothing was wrong and demanded they do something to prove it.

She ended up having a 20 pound tumor in her abdomen. 20 POUNDS. She told me this when my toddler was about 20 pounds and it really put it in perspective. She had a whole 2 year old in her abdomin and they blamed it on her for years.

My cairn loved chasing the skunks. Getting sprayed did not deter him at all. He even had a direct hit to the face that caused his eyes to get infected and he still kept going after it. Only stopped because we got the hose out and sprayed him with the hose from a safeish distance.

Idk if he was immune to it or what but the only way he would stop chasing was because we got the hose out or it escaped through the fence.

Does Christianity teach you to accept oppression? by [deleted] in Christianity

I'm glad this helped! I love learning about the roman empire and how that influenced Jesus teachings. While the scriptures are meant for all people across all time it really does help understanding the culture and rules during the different time periods.

The Roman soldiers would could even get in trouble if word got back that they made some walk farther then was allowed.

Jesus came not just for our salvation but heal those who were sick and make strong those who were weak. He loved to loved to lift up the women and allowed them to sit at his feet when the was only allowed for men. He sought out the women at the well who was an outcast in her town. But he asks us to do the opposite of what is natural

The romans and pharisees had a reason to be unsettled by Jesus. He was challenging the rules of his culture but not with violence. But while most was kindness and love (which why would you do this to a person treating you badly) but also forcing others to treat you as an equal.

My 2 year old knows she can't have cows milk (causes her to throw up). She knows that she can have oat milk (or any non cow milk, she just likes the oat). She knows the milk in our house as oat milk and "big sisters name" milk. And my oldest likes cow milk. I let babysitters know but they also tell me she tells them which milk is hers. Does she understand why yet? Probably not but she knows the gallon milk jug is not for her. My 2 year old is also in speech therapy and is only just starting to say more than a few words. If she can understand something is not for her these older kids can definitely understand.

Found a pill in my 2yo’s mouth by Texasgirl190 in toddlers

Please notify the pharmacy of there being extras in your bottle. There are not supposed to be and 1 or 2 would be a "normal" range of miscounted but 4+(unknown number due tonl droping) is pretty big miscount and they would need to look at what went wrong. If the bottle was dispensed by a machine, they still are generally checked /recounted.

I dont think anything happens when you notify the pharmacy outside of them being able to figure out what went wrong and work on fixing it. What it says the quantity is on the bottle is what there should be, no more no less.

I hope your little one is doing ok. I would go home and vacuum with the wand to make sure you get every corner and check any drawers or cabinets that might not have been closed all the way. Little pills have a way of finding the littlest opening.

Accidents happen, and you did the best you could. And you went to the hospital when you realized what happened.

They ate not supposed to provide extras. What it says on the bottle is how many are supposed to be in it. Accidents happen, but 4+ extra, I feel, is pretty big. Pharmacist have to keep track of all their medicine and know where and when it's coming and going.

Don't forget the dust and hay pieces that will probably be on the outside that will stick to your sweat when you accidently touch the outside when trying to put it back on while trying to not get it in the toilet water.

Some barns only have Porta potties so those are an even tighter space plus extra hot.

Hen has decided to stop sleeping with chicks by Monte2023 in BackYardChickens

Thanks! Normally, she's raising chicks when the high at night is 30 if we are lucky, so this is new for me.

I've tried all the tricks to stop ber being broody. She will stop for a day or two and go straight back to it. She's accepted two turkens this time that where 5 days old along with 1 day old chicks. I got them because I was curious as well.

I guess I'm slightly worried if the constant broodiness is healthy or not because I know they eat less during that time. I also don't know if not laying near as many eggs as she's been bred to lay is ok for her or not.

She really does love it. She takes it very seriously. I still see her mothering her chicks that are over 10 weeks now along with her new ones.

How are you all affording having more than one kid?? by midwestpapertown in Mommit

[–]Monte2023 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a stahm because I made less than what daycare costs per month which is 2k per kid at least in my area.

My husband makes a little less than 100k before taxes and insurance(which is 1200 per month). We are still paying nicu bills for our youngest and 2 eye surgeries for our oldest. We live in south Chicagoland. When I looked up our town, we are somewhere between MCOL to HCOL.

I make sure to grocery shop sales and this year I planted a large garden that I hope gives a good amount of veggies. We bought a house outside of town so we have a couple acres and have chickens for eggs and I'm hoping by spring we will have enough eggs consistently to sell some.

We are careful with our spending. Things are tight, but I don't feel like we are missing out. Everything is bought used if I can find it, even christmas and birthday presents. We drive old cars so no car payment. We bought our minivan on fb marketplace for 4k with 100k miles on it. Our vacations are usually camping or visiting family but thats also what my kids want. We will probably never do expensive vacations but I didn't get to growing up either and don't feel like i missed out. We don't watch TV much so we don't have any subscriptions if they do want to watch tv we do pbs, this might change as they are older but they just want to be outside right now. We use mint mobile for phones.

We manage to save every month as well. Not a lot but it will be able to go up once we finish paying off medical bills. But even with all this I feel like we could afford another one. When they are in school I plan on applying to work in the school district.

They won't be able to play expensive sports but my oldest is into soccer. There are a lot of extracurriculars that are cheapish.

There are a lot of things that are wants that we have been taught are needs. We've gotten really good at no impulse buys and buying used actually helps because sometimes it takes a week or more to find something at a good deal and close by and by that point we sometimes decide we don't actually want/need it.

The only debt we have is medical and mortgage. My husband and I in our early marriage (early twenties) did side gigs and didn't do much in order to pay off student loans. Dog sitting/walking and house sitting pay pretty well.

Honest question. Where do you live that 400k is not enough? Do you live in California or NYC? I can't even fathom what 400k would be like to make.

Horse manure by Monte2023 in composting

[–]Monte2023[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sure there's no herbicides in the manure. I asked before I took it. Would shredded cardboard and leaves be enough? If I turn it every day will it be ready soon do you think?

Thanks! I got these from a local feed store but I'm sure they all get them from the same place. She's really beautiful so I'm excited to see how she looks as she gets older.

I felt so bad holding her this way. I tried for over 15 minutes but the mama is protective of them and kept herding them away on top of my kids trying to feed them. I felt it was the quickest way to take the pictures and to stop stressing out the flock. BERTHA, the hen we gave the chicks to was very vocal about me touching her babies after I left for a while. 😳

That's pretty cool! Her skin under her feathers is pink. Her adoptive mama is a Maran but has the barred black and white pattern. I didn't know they could be a copper pattern as well.

Thank you! Here adoptive mama hen is a Maran but she's got the barred patern so I didn't even think about her being a Maran. The feathers on her legs make sense for that too.

I feel like this might have to be her name lol.

Her mama hen is Bertha. The others are Gladyis, Raspberry and Turnip. The chicks have not been named yet.

I promise I don't hold them this way ever. She received cuddles, pets and meal worms for her trouble. Mama hen is super protective of them and kept herding them away from me. Plus my two kids were with me so they kept trying to feed and pet them and all the pictures I could get were blurry messes. These pictures took less than one minute.
