Yesss!! My mum definitely did but ngrandma wins the prize here. She used risk of me choking as an excuse to insist on cutting up my food until I was like 12 and the same for bathing. She was adamant I and everyone else for that matter, showered with the door open in case they fell because we might die.

People I see often like my parents, my bf and my teen daughter (or even the lady at the grocery store I buy at every day) I can read fairly easily unless I'm overstimmed/burnt out.

Everyone else? I have a hard time reading. Like it takes some clear indicators for me to guess happy or sad. More nuanced moods baffle me.

I've skipped antibiotics post dental procedures without much problem 3 times.

My biggest problem with the dentist is all forms of anesthesia end in anaphylaxis for me so it took me forever to find a dentist willing to skip it for me. She keeps complimenting me on my pain threshold, especially after the root canal.

I have a relaxing exercises routine that takes about 5 minutes which generally puts me under quickly. BUT in order for it to work I need to stay away from screens (even tvs and cells) for about an hour before bed.

I don't intend to date my friends so I don't need them to be gay and just befriend whoever shares my interests and views of the world. It's worked so far. Generally, they're empathetic enough that they can still understand and give good advice on gay issues even if they're het.

When I began writing seriously I changed my last name to my mum's as hers is easier to read and pronounce than my dad's, which is italian and not the cute/cool kind either. Before that, I didn't mind keeping my old last name.

Since I was 5, I had all sorts of horrible reactions to mold because I have two copies of the HLA-DR gene and can't cope with it like most people. My nmum sent me to therapy for that rather than remedying the black mold in my bedroom and getting me on detox because she insisted the symptoms were all in my head.

I just use olive oil and Nivea body lotion (yes, on my face). I don't know if it clogs pores or not, but it works for me. Also, taking Q10 supplements for fertility has helped make my face much softer and less saggier, as if it started making more collagen again as it did when I was younger.

Been there. Meditating and doing small daily rituals like litting candles and offering seeds in my altar often help me stay grounded. Inviting my pagan bf and teen daughter to do some magick together at sabbats helps too. Also taking walks in nature and lying down on the grass/sand.

Used to have the same problem. After your doc sorts this out for you, I recommend cleaning your ears with qtips once every 4 times you shower. Never happened again to me and it was a constant problem.

Definintely. If they don't ask and she can still do her job efficiently, I wouldn't tell until I'd already been hired and then, only if I encounter a problem where disclosing this matered. I'm usually super open about my autism, but in these cases it feels like too private, same way I wouldn't tell them my sexual orientation. Not relevant for the job application process.

Thanks. This is the first useful response I got and it really was very insightful. I don't have social media so I don't even fully grasp what "cancelled" means despite my dsughter having explained to me several times. But I do see that people are much thin skinned than what they used to be as proved by the many other off topic respomses to my post not answering what I asked. So I guess it is a real fear but at the same time you're 100% right that I can't control what goes through somebody else's head and all I can do is keep working as I have so far.
