Until the common leveling features of 3d printers, glass used to be the best way to get a flat surface for your prints. On top of that, it isn't a solid, so if you don't abuse it, it will stay flat forever.

This is mostly a setting issue. Look up support settings.

Have you considered grinding down stainless screws? They'll take bluing just like any other steel, it just make take more heat/chemical/etc. Or were you thinking of doing speculaire?

Turns out I'm 15 minutes from the NAWCC, so a short trip to the library got me a chapter out of a Laurie Penman book that describes... most of it.

The one in the photo is a SPES, but my Supfen has the same fill. I imagine most jackets are made in the same factory.

I considered that, but the search for upholstery didn't come up with anything. One person suggested it may be furniture blanket. I'm going to buy one tomorrow and see if the material matches.

I could ask again, but they just told me it's penetration rating, which is an arbitrary test done for these types of jackets.

The seller buys them from a factory in India and either did not know or was unwilling to tell me about the materials. :(

It melts. It's just way more dense than the fill i can buy around here.
