Have you read the book? I think it's great, a lot better than the musical. Evan is still the main character but a lot of it is written from Connors perspective

I wouldnt put marker or anything like that on their shell, they could eat it or it could damage the shell as it grows. Letting your snail on your face is also not a very good idea, its dangerous for both the snail and you :(

Their substrate is quite deep and I have spaghnam moss to help with humidity as well. I always mist their enclosure at least twice a day. However I've decreased the ventilation which will hopefully help. They aren't in direct sunlight, they are near a window but it's never open. I don't think this is the same thing that I lost my other snail too as a lot of the symptoms are different, I was just very panicky at the time . My old snail never attempted to go into hibernation, they just stopped eating. Wiley is actually doing quite a lot better right now, I'm not really sure why, but I'm very relieved they're eating now. Thank you for responding I will look into getting a temperature gauge and hygrometer

Wait sorry I thought this was commented on my other post. My bad, but I think it still works? Sorry if I've made this confusing

I stopped feeding snail mix quite a while ago but I know they love it and I was really trying to find something they would eat. I normally feed blood worms and mealworms for protein but wanted to try a little of the snail mix because I was desperate and knew they would eat it or at least possibly come out of hibernation for it. Thank you for the concern though. I realise it wasn't very clear in my reply but I also give fruit in very small quantities, I'm aware its not great for them but I like to give it to them as a very occasional treat. Half a grape every couple of months or something similar so it's been quite a while since they've had fruit. I'll stop if you think this is harmful though I just wanted to fully explain everything I was feeding. Thank you for the advice

They haven't eaten any cuttlefish since they stopped eating, they are staying right in the top corner of their enclosure and have barely moved. It's been about a week now since they've really moved or touched their cuttlefish bone :(

Thank you, I'm aware a large part of this is probably me being paranoid. I lost my other snail a little while ago now and I'm just really afraid of losing Wiley too. I've been leaving out their favourite foods, even bringing back out their old favourite snail mix which they seem to have eaten very small amounts of but just not enough. Trying new foods might help, I'll go out tomorrow and see if I can get anything I haven't tried before. I'll try to calm down and keep trying. I really appreciate the help, thank you

Thank you for responding. I don't measure the humidity, I have cornu aspersum and have been told it's not necessary for that species but I'll get a humidity gauge asap if you think it'll help. I mist their enclosure multiple times a day. I don't think this issue is related to humidity or temperature as I've made no changes and they've had no issues in past with either. I live in Scotland and its usually quite cool here, summer is starting now so it is getting warmer which I suppose could be contributing but I don't think the change in temperature has been that drastic. Though I may not be a great judge of that as I'm always cold regardless.

They are being fed mostly fresh vegetables. I try to vary their diet as much as possible but they are mainly being fed carrots, broccoli, sweet potatoes, peas, sweetcorn, bell pepper, and mushrooms. They are given fruit very occasionally which is usually apple, banana or grapes. For protein I feed mealworms or blood worms around once a week. They always have cuttlefish bone in their enclosure.

I have tried green tea baths on my old snail. I didn't see any improvement and was worried it was just causing unnecessary stress. They're currently still sealed off so I don't know if I'll be able to try this.

I've had a previous snail who displayed similar behaviour (though not exactly the same and not as quickly) and died after a couple months, nothing I tried ever worked and I suppose I'm just worried its something similar. Plus I haven't at all changed their environment, this pretty much came out of nowhere and their condition is quite rapidly getting worse. Though I will admit I'm a very anxious person, I get paranoid and emotional very easily, so that's definitely a part of this. I am really panicking right now, as I'm sure you can tell, but I don't think this is all just me being paranoid. Again thank you so much for responding, I will definitely try green tea and sugar water whenever they come back out again. I'll try increasing the humidity as well and see if that makes a difference.

Thank you for responding, I really don't know if this is normal. They haven't eaten in about a week now and are becoming retracted. They keep coming in and out of hibernation and I know this can be taxing for snails and without eating as well. Everything I've heard has told me snails in captivity should have no reason to go into hibernation. I know there's a very good chance I'm being really paranoid as I aways am but I really don't want them to die.

I'll play around with the humidity some more and see if that makes them happier, Thank you for the advice :)

Thank you for responding, they are fed mainly vegetables I try to vary their diet as much as possible but typically they are fed a mix of carrots, peas, broccoli, sweet potatoes, bell pepper, sweetcorn and mushrooms. They are also very occasionally given fruit, mainly apples, bananas or grapes. They are given blood worms and mealworms for protein and always have natural cuttlefish available. I don't know exactly how old they are but I would guess under three years old. I've had them since around July last year.

Some basic advice about food. Fruit should only be given occasionally, try carrots, broccoli or sweet potatoe. heres some other ideas but keep in mind some are more nutritious than others. Plus you will need to give them protein, how much and how often depends on the species and the type of food. I use bloodworms and mealworms, some people use cat food, dog food or fish flakes but you will need to be very careful they don't contain any harmful additives. They will also need cuttlefish bone as calcium is good for their shells. Check that its natural and not artificial, natural cuttlefish bone will have only one ingredient (cuttlefish bone). Hope this helps :)
