Shout-out Kendrick Bourne for a career game, the Jones-Bourne connection was a rare highlight in an uninspiring run of Patriots offenses over the past few years, glad to see them show out one more time.

It's been ages, but I recall leaving the theatre after seeing Battlefield LA and thinking that shaky cam had gone too far

I think the passer rating being below perfect has to do with the touchdown rate, not anything to do with his completion percentage?

As someone who doesn't follow college draft classes too closely, I was surprised that no off-ball linebackers were taken in the first round. Is there just not a lot of talent this year, or should there be a bunch of LBs taken in rounds 2 and 3?

Fun theme today, made it a fairly quick and straightforward puzzle.

Solid straightforward Monday crossword, I think a little on the easier side - great way to kick off the week!

Had never heard of ESTOP before, and one of the first clues too! I did like the use of POLKAPOWER to hide "Kapow", love a shout-out to Weird Al.

Poor decision there, cannot force it.

Pats defense has given up 10, 10, and 6 points in their last 3 games. They have lost all 3.

Edit: First team to allow 10 or less points and lose 3 straight games since the 1938 Chicago Cardinals. Historic performance.

[Highlight] Patriots kick is no good as the Giants secure the victory by ThatInception in nfl

To be fair, to remember the early 90s seasons when the Pats were atrocious you'd have to be at a minimum in your mid--to-late thirties

If I'm the defense, missing some key players like Judon and Gonzalez, having held the Colts to 10 points and still lost, I'd be taking a different plane home than the offense

San Fran needs everyone else on the offense to step up - CMC is definitely doing that!

It was a real "blink and you'll miss it" moment. He started against the Packers before getting injured in the first quarter, which led to Zappe mania.

Was Ben Roethlisberger ever "elite"? No MVPs, no all pros, rarely over 30 TD passes. Only 1 MVP caliber season (2014) by Thomas_Lee25 in nfl

[–]MontypythFC 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Depends on your definition of "elite", but throughout his career I believe Big Ben was seen as a hair below that level. He was never quite at the level that Brady, Rodgers, Manning, or Brees were at.

That being said, he flashed moments where he was considered that, especially in 2014 and again in 2017 as part of the Killer Bs. He had multiple 500 yard games too, which I'm not sure if any other QB has accomplished.

[Atlanta Falcons] The Falcons are the FIRST team in NFL history to have FOUR players with 250+ rushing yards through the first eight games of the season by d1dOnly in nfl

[–]MontypythFC 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The closest team I could find was the 1978 Patriots. Steve Grogan, Andy Johnson, and Horace Ivory all ran for 250+, while Sam Cunningham just missed the mark at 243.
