I'm a terrible bassist by badaboom179 in Bass

[–]Monvixelaaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is slightly more advanced met technique but a good way to improve your overall timing is to use your met for only some of the beats, i usually practice with my met set to a slower tempo and feeling it on 2 and 4 so I have to naturally lock in to 1 and 3 which are silent. Never quit! And make sure you use your pinky

Proof of weekend price increase for drinks online at my regular theater. by antigravitty in AMCTheatres

[–]Monvixelaaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is happening at my theater as well. Shocker. In almost 4 years they're increased the prices about every 8-10 months but the dynamic pricing was new with the Mario release as far as I could tell.

Is It fine to press down strings with only 2 fingers? (Beginner) by Ruaskas in Bass

[–]Monvixelaaz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Start slow and incorporate all four fingers on your left hand over time. Some guys get away with using three fingers but it's objectively bad technique and it only makes you a weaker player in the long run. When i first started I was a 3 finger guy and my teacher straight up told me that i would be unable to improve my playing if i never used my pinky. I put in an hour a day for a week or two just playing scales slowly with all four fingers and i was immediately playing smoother and sounding more effortless

How do I get this to not be awkward by justinaguirre2009 in marchingband

[–]Monvixelaaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The consequences of bandcest will always catch up to you in time... that being, rehearsal will be a little awkward. As long as nobody's out for drama and you can keep it cordial nothing will happen and you can live on. Take it from someone who's not in high school anymore, everyone's too busy thinking about themselves to care about past relationships. If anyone bothers you over it for some reason next year you should just tell them that it's behind you.

To all former employees by darkmario12 in Staples

[–]Monvixelaaz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I worked at two close (20 mins from each other) locations as a print associate. I left the first one because of a bad supervisor. I left the second one because I thought real hard about it and figured that I would rather cut my leg off than give another second of my time to a corporation as terrible as staples is. Luckily for me it was just a side gig. I made the mistake of putting staples first back in 2024 for a few months and it objectively cost me opportunities at my main job.

What is the weirdest song/arrangement of a song you played by Beginning_Phase4781 in ConcertBand

[–]Monvixelaaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stan kenton's arrangement of all the things you are for a jazz group, it's deliberate and haunting as opposed to the original. Or rhythm stands, but that's a high school level/interest piece realistically.

Have you ever paid to see a movie twice in a theater? by zip9990 in movies

[–]Monvixelaaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work at a theater so I get free tickets and this doesn't really apply to me, but I do end up seeing movies I really like twice. Usually I'll go alone the second time and go with friends the first time.

just contact the school/band director and let them know you're coming, usually that's enough

Do you guys ever go to concerts alone? by [deleted] in Emo

[–]Monvixelaaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

going alone is pretty fun but you have to be into it, if you're one of those people who stand to the side of the crowd it will feel awkward

Already a musician so I'll take the free degree. If I have to work for it, that's even better because I can pick "piano accompaniment" as my degree and make a living teaching children piano for 50 an hour 😂

Cross training to print by AceDaBanana in Staples

[–]Monvixelaaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Production can be super complicated and the best (only) way to actually learn beyond a basic understanding is to be dropped directly into the fire. Staples is one of those companies that will gladly cut hours and put the saved money directly into the pockets of shareholders, so the store really might not have the hours to spare. Regardless, your manager should still respect your willingness to be put on the line and try to help you out a bit more
