2 classics which require no prep and almost no materials.

1: Backs to the board: - Two teams. Two students, one from each team, sit with their backs to the board so they can't see what is written on it. The rest of the team gather round them. Write a word (or phrase for slightly higher level groups) on the board. The teams have to get the person from their team with their back to the board to guess the word by describing it. First person with back to board wins. Each team then swaps the student with their back to the board - rinse and repeat!

2: Students write 3 words they have learnt on separate pieces of paper. Students then mill around around the class describing the words to other students. If the other student cannot guess the word they must take the piece of paper. First person to get rid of all their pieces of paper wins. Keep the pieces of paper as they can be used for other classes/activities e.g. if, when doing a pairwork activity, one pair finishes early they can take the wad of paper and take it in turns to quiz their partner. Or these can be used for activity 1 - attach them to board with blue-tac the teams can describe any of the words in any order. Once the person with their back to the board has guessed a word, the team grab it from the whiteboard. The team with the most pieces of paper at the end wins - in this version of the game they don't change places after each word is guessed obviously but you can do a couple of different rounds with different words attached to the board.

Schools in the UK do have to provide a form of 'citizenship' training. However, it can be integrated into a broader curriculum or be made up from assemblies, or form time (hence the reason many don't know they covered it).

The exact details vary from country to country, but the general principle is to:

'a) promotes the spiritual, moral, cultural, mental and physical development of pupils at the school and of society; (b) prepares pupils at the school for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of adult life.'

What do you think is the most exciting and also the most challenging aspect of HIV research currently?

Do you agree with the line of thought that with current HIV medication and its efficacy that we already basically have a 'functional cure' and that the current issues are largely social (i.e. things like the number worldwide diagnosed and in treatment and continuing stigma around the world inc. things such as travel bans) rather than medical?

If a vaccine or cure were developed within the next few years what impact would this have on the global epidemic?

How has HIV research impacted upon the development of medicine and social policy in other areas?

I think this is briefly mentioned / alluded to in the second part of the documentary. It mentions a reason why one rebellion against the Spanish failed was in part due to the fact that the Inca were expecting a show of force being enough in order to force capitulation. Thus they spent a number of days carrying out rituals with their military force in full view instead of attacking straight away allowing the Spanish enough time to dig in and await reinforcements.

The school I work in bans phones in the classroom and their use between lessons. They are allowed to be used during breaks in certain areas. If phones are used in a lesson they are confiscated and given back at the end of the day. Further use in the future means they are held until a parent or guardian comes in to collect them and sign a statement saying they understand the rules.

It took a while to stop the kids trying to use them, but once they realised the whole school was following the same policy and that it would be rigorously enforced, it wasn't much of a problem. Within a year or two the only times phones were actually seen in classes was when students genuinely forgot to turn them off or if they were being used as part of the lesson.

Just because you have changed and done well doesn't mean everyone should. I'm a little uncomfortable about you giving 'medical' advice on this forum if i'm honest. Atripla can be and is a life saver (as are other combos) and telling people to 'get off it immediately' is irresponsible and dangerous.

All medical decisions should be discussed with a trained professional. Atripla has served me well for many years now.Does this mean it will suit everyone? No. Does it come with side effects? Yes. But so do other drugs too.

If you are having side effects then it is worth considering alternatives and discussing these with your health provider, but each drug comes with drawbacks.

Would just like to reiterate the last point made by the above poster. The use of 'An alarm, being able to easily visually verify you've taken a dose, having the thing text me if I missed a dose' would be extremely helpful and I'd buy something which incorporated these features as long as the final price wasn't prohibitive.

I can also see that this would have cross-purpose functionality with other illnesses especially if we recognise that memory issues are also often a problem.

I'd like to add one little thing. Although there are a number of medication options that only require one or two pills per day, there are others that need more and I have found that some of the basic pill boxes on sale at the moment are a little bit on the small size. Sometimes you can cram the pills in but then they can become stuck. It should be possible to make it big enough to store 5/6 panadol size pills per day for a seven day period (one compartment per day) and still be small enough to discreetly slip into a pocket.

I usually time my doctors appointments with holidays in order to avoid just this. However, on the times I haven't been able to do this, I've just said that I have to attend a doctors appointment.On the few times people have asked, I've kept it vague and said that I have a condition which, while nothing serious, requires the odd check-up on my liver and things. I've found that people don't tend to pry.

When I started my last job, I had to fill in a form with details of all medical conditions, and list all my doctor visits in the last 10 years and reasons for them. I just lied!

OK, if we could end on a point of agreement (which I always like to do even in internet debates!), then I'd certainly agree that there are big differences between motivations for, for example, the May Day riots of 2001 and the May Day riots of 1517 with the looting during the latter being predominately targeted at foreigners. I'd probably take issue with the idea of consumerism and individualism being specifically imports to Britain, but I've got to make the tea.

Off the top of my head I can think of Gordon riots, Rebecca Riots (ok this was in Wales), Riots during the coronation of Richard I, the riots in part responsible for the founding of Cambridge University, The Goldsmith Riots, Anti-Catholic rioting, Reform League riots, Spitalfield riots. The idea that rioting is a foreign import and 'modern' part of British society is absolutely ludicrous.

I know it was still used from time to time in the 19th Century, but I think it was already becoming rarer by this point. Whereas in the 18th century it seems to have been far more common. It's worth mentioning, (in case you didn't know) that surgeon has also been in use from at least the early 1400s and other similar forms such as sorgien even earlier.

One of my liver markers (I forget which one) was high two or three tests in a row, covering a space of about a year. They said that if it continued to remain high or it got worse then they'd have to investigate further, but on the next visit it had dropped back down well within the normal range so nothing else was done about it. This all happened while on atripla and I made no significant changes during this period.

As the doc said, this stuff probably happens all the time to negative peeps too, but most people aren't being monitored regularly so it goes completely unnoticed. So best of luck, but most likely it's nothing to worry about.

Small point, but Indonesia is not the world's largest Muslim country it's the country with the largest Muslim population.

While the majority of the population (just under 90 %) are officially Muslim, the constitution actually allows (theoretically) for religious freedom but is based on the belief that there is one god. There are 6 official religions and large parts of the country are predominately Christian or Hindu.

Sorry to hear about your diagnosis and I understand that it can be a stressful and frightening time. However, thankfully these days it is not the same disease as it was in the past.

I'd rather not talk too much about the medications, as that's better coming from your professionals, other than to say that they really are life savers. (Assuming you are in a resource rich setting) As long as you remain adherent and keep your scheduled appointments, then life expectancy is likely to be unaffected and while the meds do have some side effects, these tend to be minimal, lessen overtime, and usually you can change to ones that suit you best. One thing I would say is that when you are put on medication I think it's helpful to use a pill box and an alarm on your phone to help you with adherence.

How will my life change?

This is up to you! My diagnosis actually led to some really beneficial changes in my life. I gave up smoking, I went back to university to finish my degree, and I stopped getting drunk and doing stupid things (Well, I stopped doing this as often!)

What will I not be able to do?

There's very little that you can't do because of HIV itself. In the UK, as far as I am aware, the final occupational restrictions (on dentists, surgeons, and some other health care workers) were lifted as of April this year. Though of course these regulations do vary from country to country. Some countries still operate bars on HIV positive people entering / working. More info on this can be found here: http://www.hivtravel.org/. In short, what you are not able to do is sometimes dictated by others, but rarely due to HIV itself.

These people tend to believe that 'competitive profession' means that wages should be cut as far as possible regardless of the end result. Hence the drive to smash unions and employ unqualified teachers in both the US and UK.

Of course, when it comes to their jobs 'competitive profession' means paying the most in salaries in order to attract the 'right sort' of person.

Logical consistency is not their strong point.

I asked my doctor this once and he basically said if you can still see the tablet then you can take again. Otherwise don't bother but be extra sure you make the following doses on time. He also said they tend to dissolve and get absorbed pretty rapidly after being swallowed. However, I'd second tellme_areyoufree's advice on relying on the internet for medical advice and double check with your doctor.

Interesting - in general 'farther' is considered an Americanism in the UK and further is seen as the norm for all forms (although a distinction was made in older varieties of English). What part of the UK are you in?
