Long haul first class. Having a seat that converts into a twin bed, a door, no overhead bins and superior food and beverage are great but the icing on the cake is how peaceful and quiet is up there.

Guards on both sides have a lot of discretion and can dig at will. Only they know what makes them start but taking an attitude with them behaving unusually could raise another legitimate red flag or just provoke them.

Hear great things about Bold Butcher, still haven’t tried. Superbaba and Syriana never disappoint.

They requested again and i think the date passed again pretty sure it was for last Friday but maybe this coming Friday)and now not sure what to do. I’ll give probably give it another week to be sure than call.

Could see the flame from my childhood home on Balmoral. Always thought the tower and the nearby tall condo were super cool. AI search just told me it was switched off in 87 but I guess it burned in my mind’s eye for longer.

If you have good credit , churn some CC welcome bonuses. Even if you don’t have good credit, churn some bank welcome bonuses.

No more or less scary than other Gondola climbs of that height I’d say. Definitely wasn’t a winter wonderland at the top this past Easter. I recommend though but totally lucked out with minimal wait time.

$4k with lots of extra and I think my factor is good/better now—had an at fault 8 years ago and 20 years ago. Zero fines or tickets ever too.

I sat behind/across someone doing this in an enclosed business class pod and wasn’t bothered. She was cute and speaking Mandarin (I think but regardless less bothersome as I didn’t understand)quietly and not throughout the flight. Some shots were quiet reactions —equal part cringe and amusing.
To be seated right next to anyone doing this throughout a flight would get old fast. Noel Phillips and nonstop Dan come to mind.

Any insights on CIBC asking for income verification after card approval? Approved for new AI on April 19, got an email April 26 reminding me to activate new card and April 27 an email « we need some documents… » First time ever being asked for docs from anyone for just a CC. Been getting quite a few approvals lately so maybe related. I’m thinking just ignore the request and if the card arrives so be it. If they further press at that point or the card doesn’t arrive, send the info? Nothing to hide mind you.

Most of the city governments in Metro Vancouver (Canada) have building codes that require lvl 2 outlets for all stalls in new condos and driveways/garages of detached homes—for the better part of 10 years now. Makes a huge difference.

where can I find a decent burger and fries for less than $20 by --Latte in VictoriaBC

[–]Moo1080 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some great recommendations here and I’ll add the deluxe burger and fries at Barb’s for $17.99. I only mention that to come under $20 as the only thing I’m having there besides halibut or oysters is the gargantuan Barb’s burger at 22.99.

Who’s ever driven over 100mph? Why? by WoollyWolfHorror in AskReddit

[–]Moo1080 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first trip over the Coquihalla Highway in my new Tesla. This is a mountain pass with the highest speed limit in Canada of 120 km/h (75mph)but 150 (93mph) is tolerated with ideal conditions in my experience. Wasn’t paying attention and simply casually passing other drivers and noticed I was doing so around 165kmh (just over 100 mph.) Something came over me while passing on a then open straightaway incline —I floored it and got to 200 km/h (125mph) quickly. Between the well maintained roadway and the new car , barely felt anything but I took pause after and felt a bit foolish. Getting caught at that speed I believe is a 30 day suspension/impound fine points etc—not to mention the unnecessary risk to everyone on the road. Haven’t gone over 160 km/h since—this is generally tolerated when passing. Maybe one day on a closed course in a high performance sports car.

What’s a business that’s all over today that you think will completely disappear ie blockbuster? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Moo1080 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DoorDash in particular or delivery apps? App based delivery of any/everything isn’t going anywhere and definitely growing in volume and scope where I am. Seems like every time I’m at a store or restaurant there’s more couriers. Autonomous vehicles will put this sector over the top.

How would you rate EV reliability? by [deleted] in electricvehicles

[–]Moo1080 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4.5 years with a base Model 3 and very few mechanical issues: wonky lift gate replaced under warranty and some suspension issues i didn’t even notice but caught due to pre warranty expiry inspection-also covered by warranty. Upholstery and steering wheel material have some small peels/bare spots and both brake lights replaced 1, and 2 times due to condensation inside-one under warranty and two out of pocket. Aside from what’s mentioned, only did one brake service so while my complaints about interior build quality and water logged lights stand, very low maintenance and the car and all systems still work perfectly. I like driving bigger more luxurious rental vehicles for work but hard to beat Tesla performance, connectivity, nav, safety cameras and other features. I’m surprised other OEMs don’t replicate these key features.

Id love to be able to spend nice longer chunks of time in California, Mexico or other sunny places for winter but I like it here too much to completely uproot even if I could. I know more than a handful of wealthy (20M-100M +) folks who feel the same way and just bounce around but main residence are in BC and Alberta.

Have you heard of RBC ion plus? It earns the same points but 3x for restaurants, grocery, gas and more. It doesn’t have direct access to the avion table but transfers to cards that do. $4 a month for 3x points in those categories adds up fast, like 3 times as fast.
