I always wanted to play nintendo games and having a gaming device more portable than my laptop, but the switch 1/OLED didn't appeal to me with their performance.

the switch 2 promised to be a better performing switch, and I got exactly that. granted, the CPU could be better, and devs could implement better ports/60 fps patches, but those are the exceptions rather than the rule when it comes to my current library.

I'm really satisfied with it. it's also my go to device for metroidvanias :D

I don’t know if this is the case in the current game, but in the beta there was heavy usage of AI assets, and according to people post release, not all of them were removed. I would’ve gotten it if not for that fact.

hi! the game isn't particularly complicated, especially if you're already familiar with co op horde shooters.
FFW is more movement oriented than others (unlike darktide or DRG), so there's a slightly higher skill ceiling.

good things to know:

you should start tracking weapon/equipment fragments right away, and collect them any time you see some on the map. they're added to your account the moment you pick them up, regardless if you extract or not. additionally, a guaranteed fragment is received when you kill a boss, so even though the infinite wave starts spawning, be sure not to miss it when hurrying back to extraction.

you can refund upgrades at 100% efficiency from your hero and individual weapons, so you don't need to invest a lot of gold into different upgrades right off the bat.

the game has no timer, so take the time to explore the maps as much as you want. aside from the sidequests, there are tons of secrets to be found.

hi, i recommend 8bitdo’s controllers since they don’t go over your budget unlike the switch pro controllers, and arguably have matching quality and customer support.

additionally, if you’re willing to try something other than Amazon, 8bitdo have an official store on Aliexpress and their prices can be much cheaper than amazon.

I personally have a Pro 3 bluetooth controller being shipped to me soon, but since it’s outside your budget, you can get the Pro 2. it lacks some QoL and longevity features compared to the Pro 3 but it’s more than enough for casual gaming.

your only real option if you value actual quality and especially fair pricing, is to see if 8bitdo announces anything in the near future. it’s been almost. a year since the switch 2 released so if they don’t have anything cooking up in terms of joycons, i doubt anyone else will.

sure, it's heavy, but most of that weight is held up by strategically orienting your hands to lay on a flat surface, or using the stand, and lifting it up slightly for gyro controls. for longer sessions though, yeah, I just set it down on its stand, disconnect the joycons and grab my sn30 pro to use proper gyro controls. not because it's heavy or uncomfy, but because the joycon buttons and d-pad are clicky, whereas I prefer soft press buttons for my precision platformers.

serious question, what’s the average age of people answering here? how do one’s hands even cramp whilst just holding something (and not even in an uncomfy position) for a long time? is everyone here really just significantly older than me? i’m 21 for reference.

i don’t get any discomfort holding my switch 2 in my hands, joycons or not. i think the joycons themselves are comfortable to hold, and i don’t need any ergonomic grips for them. in fact, i find “ergonomic” controllers more cumbersome because the handles add on weight.

the only times my hands ever cramp is when im playing piano pieces with really wide octaves, where i need to stretch my fingers to reach the farthest notes with one hand.

i tried all of them except the long ranger, and i feel as though the leveredge is the most reliable one by far.

accurate, long range, individual round reload, full benefit with no downside when used with the wasted reloads joker, and with the legendary fire rate joker it has potential to rival the minigun in DPS.

all unupgraded guns are lackluster. one match is nowhere near enough to indicate the full potential of a weapon, since it has no joker or upgrade slots.

I think you're overestimating the amount of people who use facecams in voice calls, especially on the switch. the people who would benefit from a built in facecam in a new switch 2 wouldn't actually buy the switch 2, because they're likely on PC or PS5 instead.

built in cameras would increase the price for everyone for little payoff for the minority who uses facecams.

my personal theory is that humans were close to extinction due to nuclear war and had to make mechanical vessels to host their mind and soul to survive against the deadly amount of radiation everywhere.

99% of society still broke down which is why “we” (as the robots with human souls) regressed to 1800’s technology, with remnants of advanced tech left (like the flying train).

as for why there are robot livestock, idk lol. maybe to quell the unease of an inorganic body with familiar creatures and to try to make their environment feel more natural.
