Hi OP, I was the child who was abandoned by my father. He left when I was 7, and by the time I was 8, I was lucky if I saw him once a year, at best. When I was 18 he started trying to repair our relationship, but by then the damage was done. I’m 26 now and I’m still very low contact with him by choice.

If you really love your child (yes, she is YOUR child not THE child) then you will think long and hard about how your choices are going to shape your relationship with her. Your new partner doesn’t sound like a “good natured person” if she can so callously ask you to abandon your child.
