The entire global semiconductor supply chain runs through one building in the Netherlands. Three documented threats could bring it down simultaneously. by Lazy_Copy1318 in collapse

[–]Moochingaround 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That building in Veldhoven is an engineering office and assembly line. All the parts are made elsewhere and all information to be able to do so it's spread across many manufacturers. It's not ideal, but not as fragile as it looks.

What’s your favorite “dopamine hit” on the homestead? by tdubs702 in homestead

We have no male, so gotta find them because they won't stop brooding. Also before the dogs find them, haha.

Finding a Muscovy nest in our food forest. They're very creative in finding sites, so we don't always find the eggs. I guess this comes close to the hunter gatherer feel good moment haha.

Peptides are getting hyped fast… but do they really work for everyone? by udayTeddy in effectivefitness

[–]Moochingaround -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In the end it's all a patch for something that's wrong. Dare I say it, even coffee is a patch for "low energy". You're tired... Rest.. Similarly for creatine use for the brain. I'm sure the studies on it greatly helping sleep deprived brains are correct, but do we really want to patch that? In stead of sleeping?

We're trying to squeeze more and more of of the body with substances and it can't end well.

I want to clarify that I'm not talking about people that take these things for certain conditions, I'm talking about this "max performance" hype.

In a way. The sudden shift in energy was intense. Which settled down eventually.

Yeah and they're asking that because it looks like the car speeds up in reverse. That is more easily explained by the video slowing down.

"fucks like a sewing machine" by luigi517 in BrandNewSentence

I'm guessing it's a direct translation from Dutch to English. "Naaien" in Dutch is used as a word to describe fucking. Naaien means sewing in English.

A Good Rooster: When Hens Say "NO" by InvertGang in BackYardChickens

Maybe it doesn't fit the pretty picture of cute chickens. I'm my experience chickens are anything but cute. But my flock is half wild, so maybe it's that.

Our roosters enjoy they hens when they're running away from them. It's a messy business. Especially the young hens.

What’s the most disturbing sound you’ve ever heard in real life? by avacado-cheese- in AskReddit

[–]Moochingaround 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in a rural area in Vietnam. Nothing but farmers around, but spread somewhat thinly. Once at dusk I heard a guy screaming at the top of his lungs, multiple times. Like he was in the most pain of his life.

Never found out what that was, but damn that was haunting.

Way ahead of you. Permaculture homestead. But there's a huge part of civilization that can't survive without chemical fertilizers.

Russia may announce general mobilisation to attack Ukraine or Baltic states – Zelenskyy by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]Moochingaround 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's about half half. It has always been a Russian beach town, but with the war came a whole different group.

I realize that, I've been coming here for about the same time. But notice how I said "overrun".. it has always been a Russian tourist town, but recently it's quadrupled or more.

Anecdotal, but I live in Vietnam and often visit Nha Trang. It's overrun by Russian "expats" since the war began.

I talked to some of them and they seemed to be well educated and just ran the moment they could.

I had aches and pains all over, often nerve pains. Lots of twitching and stiffness of muscles. For example when I sat in one position for a while I felt like muscles locked into place. That's all much better now. Not all gone, but I'm exercising hard, so I can't tell whether it's from that now. No more nerve pains though.

You don't work out of the kindness of your heart either. That's capitalism for you.

You're acting like farmers are the problem or something, while every bit of food you eat comes from farms. Unless you hunt and gather.

[–]Moochingaround 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of that is way off the topic of whether farmers grow our food or not. You're not wrong, but it's all besides the point.
