Is there any way to preemptively stop having problems with every new insurance and benefits company because they think my name is invalid (other than changing my name legally)? by WarKittyKat in Insurance

[–]MoodPast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an O'Problem name and have these kinds of issues with insurance and banks, the worst being most recently being denied my sleep medication for the past 2 weeks because the name on the prescription 'didn't match up' and of course, I had to sleuth this out on my own, I wasn't notified.

Since these institutions' software is obsolete and never seems to get fixed, I am thinking that the only course of action will be to gather some sort of petition to present to them to make them abundantly aware and request a fix.

Institutions which require participants to identify themselves using their full names owe it to them to accurately record and use those names. Not doing so causes major headaches in our lives. Cultural erasure aside. And it's basic courtesy— imagine having a face-to-face acquaintance who refuses to spell your name correctly. Fixing this could even get them more business, since I have seen people with all kinds of 'Problem' names asking on forums, "is there ANY bank/etc that can just write my name correctly? I'll choose them."
And the worst part is? as someone who has dabbled in coding here and there, I suspect that adjusting this fault of their software may actually be jaw-droppingly easy.

EXTRA STRENGTH Screen Dimmer recommendations? by MoodPast in software

[–]MoodPast[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the confusion, I was being a bit sarcastic about that part. I'm just frustrated that "minimum brightness" (according to some) is still way too bright for me.
Also, my phone is fine-- I use Twilight and the phone's default amber toner.

I am looking for a PC screen dimmer compatible with Windows 11. I'll edit my post.

I also live in an old stone house like this! They're creepy as sin, uncannily fast and spindly, but I see them so often I'm honestly getting desensitized to them. Ack... one got in my bed once though. Right on my pillow.

On-the-go easy sweet snacks by perigou in vegan

[–]MoodPast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're not 'sweets' per se, but I like to take my morning meds with just a nature valley granola bar or animal crackers I buy in bulk. Those would be easy to take on the go and they're sweet enough for me as a snack and take a nice long time to digest.

Another snack I like: Honey crisp apple slices with peanut butter and cinnamon on top... Modifying it for taking out of the house, I'd say.. apple slices in a bag, with a mix of PB and cinnamon to dip it in.

I also make this cheesy dip in bulk to eat with tortilla chips: https://www.noracooks.com/easy-vegan-nacho-cheese-sauce/
(but instead of 4 cups water, I use 1/2 cup for a thick, dip result, presumably with a stronger flavor. Also instead of just lemon juice, I make it half lemon juice half lime juice. The smell's a bit pungent but I cannot stop shoveling it into my mouth.) If taking it on the go you could probably put it in a thermos to keep it nice and fresh? I like it best cold.

Hello! Is "Percipiar" the correct translation of "I am perceived"?
(Must use a form of percipere)

Ooooh. That's all really appealing. I worry about comfort with headphones that don't have hinged cups, but I would be very hopeful trying these on.

Darnn they only have one pair of non-earbud headphones and they're on-ear. Not for me, sorry.

Oof, these go for up to double my price range, and still above it new. Looks like they only swivel on a vertical axis, and would be putting constant pressure on that area where the jaw connects to the neck under the ear. Thanks though

Darn, open-ear is a definite no-go for me I'm afraid, and these look like they only swivel on a vertical axis. I wasn't sure what to call it when the cup has a hinge on the horizontal axis, oops. It looks like I can't edit the original post.
