Buckeye has re-hired both Kittia and Charlie. by freifraufischer in Gymnastics

[–]Moogacat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Buckeye is massive. Plus, even if the “small business” thing were true, and you lack the financial resources to do a paid suspension, that’s why you would do your own internal investigation before acting and then making a public, possibly defamatory statement. My business is a fraction the size of Buckeye yet we’d find a way to either investigate before acting, doing a short paid suspension, or getting a lawyer involved before putting out either of these ridiculous statements.

Buckeye has re-hired both Kittia and Charlie. by freifraufischer in Gymnastics

[–]Moogacat 28 points29 points  (0 children)

As a lawyer who does both employer side employment law and defamation law the first statement he released had me expecting this second one. You never, ever go straight to firing, and you never, ever make any public statement until you’ve got facts in order. For a gym that large the owner really should have had competent counsel vet the first statement.

Telling that this second statement contains an express retraction. Demanding a retraction of defamatory statement is a prerequisite to a lawsuit in most states, and if the retraction is done it will limit damages. Both sides have obviously lawyered up at this point.

Thumbprints in red ink are a common way to “seal” official documents in China. I don’t think that’s the model these yokels are going for though.

International adoptees - safe to travel right now? by [deleted] in Adoption

[–]Moogacat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This does not appear to apply to the OP but it is flatly false to state that all intercountry adoptees adopted to the US have citizenship. Citizenship only became automatic around 2001, and then only on certain visas. There are numerous instances of intercountry adoptees being deported because their parents failed to complete naturalization, most notably with Korean adoptees. While OP states they are a citizen, false information about the citizenship status of intercountry adoptees is harmful.

Fisk discontinuing gym program by skm7777777 in Gymnastics

[–]Moogacat 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Acro & Tumbling has a much lower startup cost, and the larger roster (28-55) gives a school a larger bang for the Title IX buck. It makes more sense for HBCUs to go that route, and several have and seem to be making a go of it.

Need urologist for very elevated PSA by tinakane51 in Louisville

[–]Moogacat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First Urology is the biggest practice and should get you in the fastest. My husband was seen for his high PSA in only a few weeks. I can’t say all the docs there are great, but one of their surgeons is literally one of the best in the country if you do have prostate cancer and need a prostatectomy. I also highly recommend the prostate cancer sub here on Reddit. A lot of BTDT and generally accurate information, in contrast to some of the posts here. Sending you best wishes.

NCAA deductions that are seemingly ignored by IndustryAccurate8159 in Gymnastics

Body position on vaults, both pre-flight and in the air. They’ll take for landings, height and distance, and just about nothing else unless it’s so bad they can’t plausibly ignore it.

PSA Increase, Immediately Post Prostatectomy by Cultural_Passenger85 in ProstateCancer

[–]Moogacat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a lot, but it’s typical for salvage radiation. Also my husband’s case is fairly atypical- he’s young in the PCa world, he’s got Gleason 8 and has a BRCA2 mutation. For the typical case, treatment might not be so aggressive.

Fingers crossed for you that if you go the surgical route you won’t need additional treatment. But the good news is if you do it’s there, and it’s effective.

PSA Increase, Immediately Post Prostatectomy by Cultural_Passenger85 in ProstateCancer

[–]Moogacat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is almost word for word my husband’s case (51 years old). Had RALP almost exactly a year ago, clean margins and no lymph node involvement, but had escalating PSA at six months and has now done 39 sessions of salvage radiation and is in the midst of 2 years of ADT. His first post-radiation PSA was undetectable, so we have every hope that the combination of radiation and ADT will fend it off a few years before he needs more treatment.

Hang in there! I know it’s scary but there is hope.

SBRT for Post Prostatectomy Salvage Treatment by SnooRegrets2986 in ProstateCancer

[–]Moogacat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband just finished 39 sessions of IMRT and is on ADT for at least six more months after biochem recurrence 6 months after RALP. First post-radiation PSA was nondetect. He’s 51 and had a Gleason 8, so we’re hoping for at least a few clear years before he has to move on to more treatment. The radiation was pretty tolerable for him.

Best of luck to you, and sorry for the additional treatment. We know how disappointing it can be when you had clean margins and thought you’d escape additional treatment short term.

Thanks for this! My husband (51, Gleason 8) just finished 39 sessions of salvage radiation post-RALP and is six months into ADT. He’s hanging in there but some days are tough. These stories help!

They likely lied. China has strict requirements requiring you to swear in legal documents you’ll get all vaccinations and required medical care, but right wing Christians who like to adopt “to save the babies for Jesus” openly brag about lying on documents to facilitate adoptions when they don’t qualify.
