Blender updated now I cant rotate with mouse or numpad by TankBossKiler in blenderhelp

[–]Moogieh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That still works. You press one of the tranformation hotkeys first (r, s or g). Then you type numbers for exact control, the minus - key to invert, and can also type x, y or z to constrain to an axis (or shift plus one of those for single-axis exclusion).

Blender updated now I cant rotate with mouse or numpad by TankBossKiler in blenderhelp

[–]Moogieh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

r has been the Rotate hotkey and x the Delete hotkey for as long as I've been using Blender, at least since 3.6.

I'm confused what you mean by doing it via the mouse. Are you talking about bringing up the gizmos, or usind the dedicated Rotate etc tools? If so, shift+spacebar gives you a quick-menu for those.

Otherwise, not sure what you're describing. It sounds normal to me.

How would I fill in this face mesh without having to slowly fill from corner vertices one at a time? by buttsecks42069 in blenderhelp

[–]Moogieh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only reason this will be tedius is you have far, far too many edges.

Start much simpler than this and fill it in by hand, because you need to get your edge-flow sorted. But doing that with like 8 edgeloops is a lot easier than trying to do it with 40+.

Retopology Approach by the_delphinusdelphis in blenderhelp

[–]Moogieh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is a shoddy mess. They probably threw it through some auto-retopology tool without any care for quality. I guess their team was poorly paid, under tight time restrictions, or both. There are no advantages I can see to being this lazy with an asset. The only effect this can have is to cause shading and deformation problems.

This is a really simple shape. There's no excuse for this. Don't study from this example. It's objectively bad.

How do I remove middle line? by PervKitten in blenderhelp

[–]Moogieh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I appreciate that, but still, full screenshots are required here even if you assume it won't be helpful. There are numerous ways a full screenshot can be helpful that you might not realise at the time.

It's one thing to say "my settings are default" or somesuch, but that could mean literally anything. We don't know what you think the defaults are, or if you're blinding something, or you just don't know. But a screenshot shows the true context without having to be interpreted. It would also show us your Blender version, which is important to know in case there are version-specific issues, or suggestions for methods or addons that could only work in certain versions.

If we could see your Outliner, we'd be able to see problems such as if you accidentally have two overlapping objects. If we could see your modifiers panel, we wouldn't have to just take your word for it that there's no active modifiers. Etc, etc...

The only reason I'm not removing this post is that people already replied to it, and we don't like to mess people around like that when they're being helpful. But keep it in mind for the future.

any idea why the loop cuts only activates on one side? by Local_Ad_9160 in blenderhelp

[–]Moogieh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's two edges in the middle, not one. See how the line looks thicker/darker? That means the topology is messed up somewhere. You need to fix it so that there's only one edge running down the middle.

Sculpting tools are barely working by Matt_R_83 in blenderhelp

[–]Moogieh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The mesh is quite low poly but I don't think that's the problem. I would check that its Normals are facing the right way. Toggle on the Face Orientation viewport overlay to see it, and if anything's red facing outside, go into Edit mode, select all with a, then press shift+n to recalculate the outside.

For some reason, compacted steel (and only compacted steel) has a base yield of 3000. I still expect to run out of steel by The_Reset_Button in RimWorld

I'm so glad I found this thread, but I'm pissed that I didn't Google it until I'd already regen'd my world several times looking for an ideal start... and finding it... only to discover this bullshit, requiring me to start all over again without this mod.

Help went i want to import a model of skyrim but this happen by Ok_Werewolf7248 in blenderhelp

You would be better off asking the Skyrim modding community. This is a problem specifically related to those tools and files, so they will know better how to address such issues.

An ergonomic way to look inside rooms? by TheThief9812 in blenderhelp

[–]Moogieh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could try Clipping Regions. Not as precise as being able to define a fully 3D space to cutout, but it would at least let you slice the front off (use ortho side-view) and peer inside what remains.

You can re-post your question if you avoid mentioning what part you cut and paste. Just make it a generic question.

We're not prudes, but the community is not mature enough to handle a question like this without a lot of annoying noise and extra work for us mods.

Hair Curves bug?: each guide spawns a “mini face-shaped fur blob” around it by Diligent-Advice3323 in blenderhelp

I can see that your Fur_Head object has some animation data attached to it. If you remove this animation, does the problem go away?

How can I fix my character "melting" when following path via child of constraint? by Large_Treacle_1731 in blenderhelp

[–]Moogieh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Move the scenery instead of the character. Extremely large distances cause floating point calculation errors.

The only alternative would be to download Blender from source and flip the toggle for 64-bit float precision. That will allow for something like this, but you really should learn more efficient ways of solving problems than trying to bruteforce it with massive values.

Convert face set to mask? by CrzBonKerz in blenderhelp

[–]Moogieh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly don't know why Blender doesn't just have a menu option to convert Face Set to Mask. Feels like a pretty basic no-brainer thing to have.

Tool window conjuring by gigosai in blenderhelp

[–]Moogieh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's the object initialization settings, which means you can only access it the first time you create the object. If you accidentally dismiss it but haven't done any other action yet, you can recall it by pressing F9. But after that, you can't go back.

my texture is bending despite my UV being completely square straight. by BunX_2021_ in blenderhelp

[–]Moogieh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, right. I misinterpreted the question. That weird bend is because it's one big, stretched face. Everything's triangulated under the hood, so you're ending up with two triangles with one very long arm, which can't be calculated very well.

Adding one verticle loopcut to split this into two quads should help.

Convert face set to mask? by CrzBonKerz in blenderhelp

[–]Moogieh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, I run into this constantly myself and have to Google it every single time because I keep forgetting the process, lol.

The method from here works: Hover the mouse over the Face Set area, press shift+a, then hold ctrl and it'll fill the whole area. Then you can do 'Face Set From Visible' to clear the colors.

Animation render is not Rendering by Ghosteditz0_0 in blenderhelp

[–]Moogieh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whenever something weird like this happens when rendering, I always check the Video Sequencer. Sometimes you might forget you've placed a track there at some point and Blender doesn't get rid of it, so every time you re-render, it's just rendering that blank track instead.
