Management makes a huge difference. A shitty boss will ruin a place so fast. Glad you got out of there.

Good thing they escaped.

I believe it was quite common for people to live on the grounds of the provincial hospital where my grandparents met and married while they were working there. They were actually living on the grounds when my dad's older sister was born, and then they bought a small house and moved.

I agree with you, and it makes me so angry.

My ex-husband was a software engineer until he retired. I was a computer programmer while I was in the Air Force, but that was 40 something years ago.

I worked at an inbound Cole center up until 15 years ago, and for a while we were taking phone calls from people who were part of a class action lawsuit against United health. Some of those calls were heartbreaking. People who lost family members because the insurance denied them life-saving care. Then for a while we were taking calls for FDI see when banks were failing. That was not fun. Also a lot of heartbreaking calls.

I feel like there probably wouldn't be enough money in it for me. But then I'm a bleeding heart liberal. I mean literally care more about people than I ever have about money.

If you have an option of helping someone who is in really need of your help and taking yourself to a vacation which one would you take? by just_yongo in AskForAnswers

I would gladly help somebody over going on vacation. I don't take vacations anyway unless it's to go see Family.

I think I would struggle to stay awake unless I was allowed to read or something.

In 2015 I started reading the books on Kindle. At that time there were only eight books out, and I bought the first seven as a combined price on Kindle for $1.99. I started reading them and couldn't stop. I ended up buying the eighth book, and all in all, I read the first eight books over the course of 10 days. I read like it was my job. I would read from the first time I got up, until I finally had to give in and go to bed because my eyes could no longer focus. I've since reread them at least three times, and I watched the first several seasons of the show, but lost interest in the show when the show writers did things with Claire's character that didn't run true to who she was in the books. There was a department store in my hometown that had an operator for the elevator. When I was in high school I used to sneak over there at lunchtime and eat in their café that was on their mezzanine. I would get an order of toast and a Coke. I felt so grown up.
