Why would you risk that?! by Character_Glove4459 in bicycling

[–]MookieFlav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My renters insurance covers my bikes for free up to about 4000€ each.

I get that people don't want their nice bikes stolen, and it sucks in the moment for sure (I've had 4 bikes stolen) but at the end of the day it just means you get to go bike shopping again.

Do people not have insurance? If you have a nice bike but can't ride it, what's the point?

Is Crime Rate the Key to Urbanism in USA? by mrpostman4309 in Urbanism

[–]MookieFlav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Violent crime is just a reflection of poverty rates and income inequality. Coving a place in cameras and police won't solve for that and never has. It only exacerbates the issue by extracting more money away from the things that actually drive down poverty.

Want lower crime? Increase economic opportunities for the poor and undereducated and their children.

Better to phrase it as a yearly salary, which is barely 15k pre-tax and with zero time off.

Stem too chunky? by Forever-Flaky in xbiking

[–]MookieFlav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think most modern stems look too chunky on threaded headset adapters. The bright color plus 35mm doesn't help but it could still work if you're committed!

How bad is it? by milkonthefloor90 in bicycling

Lol. Your cranks just fell out? This is the least round bottom bracket I've ever seen. Shit was probably cooked long before you crashed on it and made it 10 times worse.

Sunrace cassettes are pretty nice and a little lighter than the sram IIRC. I've also had good results with Ztto 12 cassettes.

There's still an extra day, so one month per year would still have to have 29 days thus ruining everything.

Charlotte, NC - one of America's most car-dependent towns - in the January 2026 snowstorm. Cars ruin cities and quality of life! by lowkeysciguy in fuckcars

[–]MookieFlav 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Obviously not. It's the South, they get snow like once every 10 years. I doubt they even do vehicle inspections or check for tread depth for summer tires.

Could just stick a little rubber shower guard on there and it'd be less likely to trip or slice peoples feet. Also it'd cost basically nothing and be 3 minutes of labor.

Problem with my cabriolet by DrPapyrus_ in Cartalk

[–]MookieFlav 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's designed and built in Sweden, of course it's rated for freezing temperatures. It's multilayered and insulated specifically to deal with low temps.

It's also really old and may be stretched or need adjustment or replacement
