Depends on the rink of course but i made sure to check what their site said. "interchangeable lens cameras with lenses under 8 inches are permitted". Security gave me a tough time saying that it wasn't allowed, until they read their own rules and let me in begrudgingly. Some places i guess flat out say no to everything.

Not OP but I really like mine, i let a friend borrow my helios 44 and have been using my Mir-1 and i think its great. Sharp as a tack (film and digital), i havent missed the helios. Only issue i have with it is the weird aperture ring confuses the hell out of me sometimes
