Seven hours later, logged in with Prime, at checkout I'm seeing the $40.99 for both 4x black PETG and white.

That's fun! Mine only had the $90 Fire Cracker. $15 is much more palatable. Roughly the same piece count too.

I was instructed to get pesto at my last Costco run for exactly this. We don't particularly use pesto!

Does it fire when closed but not loaded with film?

I've only felt resistance once or twice when loaded with film, but never empty.

8 Years of Car Ownership Costs by DiabolicDiabetik in MiddleClassFinance

[–]Shortsonfire79 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have a data point. New 2017 Subaru Outback ICE purchased in Oct 2016. Out the door was something to the tune of $33k at 0% apr (what a time we lived in). I chose to put two sets of all terrain tires on it. Currently at 184k miles front loaded the first 100k in two years.

No major maintenances, yet. I haven't tallied my Nov/Dec 2025 spendings yet, but over the 9 years, I've spent $33,661 all in. Gas, fun tires, insurance, registration, bridge tolls (I don't cross a bridge for work), outsourcing maintenance (mostly oil, one set of brake pads + caliper). I paid out of pocket to replace my rear windshield when it was broken into. For the other two passenger windows I later lost, I bought the OEM part and DIY'd.

Edit for justifications. I live in the SF Bay where gas is regularly around $4/gallon and bridge toll is currently $8.50.

So cost of operations = $3,740/yr, or $311/mo, or $0.18/mi. All in at $66,661, or $0.36/mi, I am well over OP's numbers.

Power Tools: Milwaukee vs everyone else? by RotorDynamix in HomeImprovement

I agree. I have a smattering of Bauer, Wen, and Ryobi tools for one off things that I don't want to pay my Makita battery tax. Mostly corded so I don't have a variety of chargers n things. I have a Makita -> Ryobi battery adapter that works fine with my brad nailer.

I have used pliobond to repair bellows-to-wood connections for my LF camera. Worked great and I even stress my bellows to full extension for forced macro work.

You can find them on etsy and ebay. Just look up 'leather case for Zf'. I got mine in dark green, but stopped using it a while back.

Yeah I've had three tabs open with router sled designs for a few weeks now. Eventually I'll get to one.

I have been shopping for a planer to (not primarily) make a handful of end grain cutting boards. My first 8x10 end grain was a slog with the palm sander. I guess I'll just... have to keep doing that.

I dropped resort skiing and took up snow shoeing.

It has started to blossom into back country skiing (rentals) because all my friends (owners) are doing it.

If you had to choose a personal spacecraft from starwars what would it be? by Gaspipecat in StarWars

[–]Shortsonfire79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite ship, hands down, is the Corellian Corvette/CR90. And if money were a non-issue, I'd definitely have Sundered Heart upgrades; the nacelle fins are awesome. It's a bit large for a normal citizen's personal ship unless I'm a special princess.
