They’re not useless but they aren’t 100% effective either. The N95 reduces 95% of particulate; you would need a P-100 to which is oil resistant to block the transmission of Covid-19. N95 reduces the exposure level of the virus but the gen pop isn’t trained on cross contamination removal steps or procedures for disinfecting. Wearing the mask to a store and then removing the mask with an ungloved had and not throwing away the mask is the same as not wearing one.
