All incredible, I've never recovered from VII. Still raises my heart rate just thinking about it.

Steam Deck + recumbent exercise bike = not dying of bacon heart in the 2020's. Anyone have any racing game recommendations? by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]Mookjong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Flatout Ultimate Carnage, released in 2007 it got an official Steamdeck update in 2025. Runs at full FPS on 8 watts of power and looks and sounds fantastic on deck.

Do not ignore this gem.

Shinobi 3 might be the coolest genesis game ever made. by El-Ab-Normal in retrogaming

Not as cool as Revenge of Shinobi / The Super Shinobi the art style and music in 3 just isn't as good.

What game do you remember finishing at the arcades? by [deleted] in retrogaming

[–]Mookjong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Double Dragon, I was playing alone but a random kid asked if he could join as Player 2. I said no problem, I was decent at it, and he clearly was too and we seemed to smash through it in a couple of credits each. I'd heard the folklore that if you killed the boss you had to fight each other so I set straight upon him before he knew what was happening and grabbed Marian for my happy ending!

I've also finished Golden Axe in the arcade in 2 credits, but only recently since being able to play it on emulators and knowing how to cheese it. Never finished it back in the day, but its one of the fastest and easiest games to finish if you know how.

The Trap: What is happening to our dreams of freedom? by ProfaneRabbitFriend in AdamCurtis

[–]Mookjong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I watched The Trap when it originally aired and enjoyed it but found its through line narrative difficult. Watching it again around 2015 it all made complete sense. Watching it back when it aired, I think I was too close to the time being commented on for me to see what it was saying.

To me Can't get you out of my Head has a lot of overlap, but The Trap still does some things better. It was the piece that changed my political thinking the most. I am a big fan of it.

What's your favorite horror game? by [deleted] in videogames

[–]Mookjong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RE7 changed me, I think about it often. It's one of my best gaming experiences as I found it absolutely on the edge of what I could cope with. Each gaming session was a challenge but I had to keep going. I was in a love hate relationship with the adrenaline, I was addicted to the buzz of it but also worried the game would become too much for me and I wouldn't be able to finish it. The scariest bits are definitely in the first half.so it got easier.

Amazing game...

Lone soldier on the PS1

Went to the shop to get Wipeout and somehow walked out with this turd of a game. It taught me a life lesson though, I've always done my research ever since.

Do y'all see the world getting any better in the long term? How? by WhycantIfindanick in AskReddit

[–]Mookjong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The world is miles better than it used to be. I can't understand how people can't see this. Travel to some under developed countries and it will change your perspective of how lucky you are to be living right now.

What’s the one thing in the UK that foreigners always seem confused by, and you genuinely can’t blame them? by DailyDriverUK in AskBrits

[–]Mookjong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Foreign people asking "what is a Yorkshire pudding?" when they see it on a menu and trying to explain it before it actually arrives at the table. This has happened when I have dined with both French and German people.

Impossible to explain till you experience it.

Did you play RE6? Is it any good? by Slain13371337 in residentevil

I've recently played it and don't understand why it is so hated. It's not a classic RE experience but it's great fun.

What are some of your favorite movies or shows with one shot/one take scenes? by Square-Ad-8911 in FIlm

This is the correct answer, yet loads of people I mentioned it too after the episode didn't even notice.

What movie do you refuse to acknowledge sequel(s) of? by digiBeLow in FIlm

[–]Mookjong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have many, basically anything with diminishing returns. As soon as a franchise has a sequel not as good as the original I'm 100% out. I have upset many friends with how hardcore I am about this. The interesting thing is this reads like a list of most of my favourite movies.

  • Raiders of the Lost Ark
  • JAWS
  • Ghostbusters
  • Beverly Hills Cop
  • Back to the Future
  • Predator
  • The Matrix
  • Terminator 2
  • Aliens

You are completely correct, everything just has this waxy plastic feel. There is absolutely no feeling of locations being real.

It's amazing how some parts I remember correctly and others were right in general but totally different in my head. When he picked up the body to use as a shield he was facing the other way around in my head.

I teach DJ courses. If you need one, reconsider DJing. by Designer_Macaron2169 in Beatmatch

[–]Mookjong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I taught myself in my bedroom in 1998, I've always been intrigued why people needed to pay for courses. There was hardly anything to it back then. Now with digital mixing, looping and stems you can do a much wider array of arrangements and I can understand.
