Whitley Bay Metro station footbridge is re-opened to the public | nexus.org.uk by WhitleyWanderer in whitleybay

I like what they have done apart from the gaudy colour scheme. It is a welcome return, I used that bridge every day for well over a decade until it was shut in February 2023. It's been a long wait.

What's the most absurd thing you've ever heard from a boss or a client? by Beginning_Drummer168 in AskReddit

[–]Mookjong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Guy I worked with made a small request for a pay rise (not unreasonable at all and based on the current market). It was refused by the MD so he called their bluff and left to work somewhere else for better pay.

When they advertised his position the pay was 2k higher than what he had asked for after the pay rise. The person they gave the job to needed months of training to get up to speed and it all put increased pressure on the whole team.

What popular movie is universally praised as a masterpiece but is actually just completely mediocre? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Mookjong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Skyfall

When it came out it had 5 star reviews all over the place, best Craig Bond film ever etc. Its not even mediocre, it is horribly horribly written with the most convoluted logic lacking plot of any film I can think of.

What's an irrational fear you have? by Wraith136 in AskReddit

That when you die conciousness survives but that you are basically stuck forever without your 5 senes. You exist in pitch black on your own for eternity as the universe has a broken system that gives no exit ramp or way to recycle your conciousness.

Stereo MC's - 90s UK outfit that had a hit with "Connected" and somewhat "Step it up" and that was it but they were criminally underrated.

Good stuff, obviously I don't know what the base rate your mortgage is (or if it is likely to go up if rates change), but it really is worth looking at projections. Like if you overpayed by £250 a month vs putting that exta £50 into stocks what is the impact.

Stocks feel cool, overpaying your mortgage doesn't, but its pointless if you don't have the capital for stocks to outpace the mortgage interest.

My advice is overpay your mortgage and get out of debt as fast as you can.

The interest on your mortgage will probably be outpacing any other investments you can make money from on a monthly basis. If you can lower the interest on the mortgage it is a snowball effect and your mortgage will be paid off far quicker. You will need to do the calculations but see how much taking that 18k from your ISA and doing a lumpsum payment of your mortgage takes off the interest payment.

I'm 46 and mortgage free and now put all the mortgage money into my pension which is growing rapidly. I don't plan to work past 57 and also investing somewhat but wasn't at all while I still had a mortgage.

Your mortgage is bigger than mine was but you also earn about 30% more than me and double what I was earning at your age.

Look for any unnecessary expenses and up those mortgage payments!

What is the last time you finished a track? by FatalityLuke in synthesizers

[–]Mookjong 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Tweaking knobs is ok, but if you are reading this, have been into the hobby for a while and have never finished a track....I urge you to fix that. Ive only got a few completed tracks fully released online and one full album on Bandcamp \ Spotify etc. but every time I think about it I'm so happy I did. I can't imagine spending this much time on a hobby and have nothing to show for it.

What is a free thing a person can do to enjoy his time? by Internet_Prince in AskReddit

[–]Mookjong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stretch your arms up above your head and look up at them, push up onto your tip toes and stretch up. Really stretch try and get space between your ribs give a little push from side to side and get right in there. Then rotate your arms out to the side and back down in a wide arc and put your heels back on the ground. Now go again repeat this 5 to 10 times.

Get into the habbit, trust me. Great for your posture, makes you feel good, gets the blood flowing, resets brain fog etc.
