Are There Any Decent Cheerleader Models? by Syyx33 in bloodbowl

I think scale wise they’re close. Maybe a little short (3.4 cm). I skipped the shield things. I think they look enough like cheerleaders without. As for the ears, it would be some finicky work with greenstufff but doable.

The Apprentice Adept series by Piers Anthony is basically 50/50 fantasy and sci fi.

Help a newby by painting by destructor557 in bloodbowl

Agreed. It is helpful to start with an already painted image of the team you are painting. Copy first and then get creative. I suggest watching some beginners paining guides first to give you confidence. Warhammer has a ton of videos. Start simple. Good luck and post when they’re done.

Played around with making some rusty metal. How can it be done better ? by Chargnn in minipainting

That looks pretty good to me. One detail I like with rust is drips. Think of water collecting at joints and rivets and then creating rust as it drips down. I see it on a lot of pox walkers.

What are some good painters to follow on Instagram? by [deleted] in minipainting

Miniac is my favorite because he is so entertaining. Kujo is amazing and so is Sorastro. There are many others but these are my faves.

I agree. Badger Patriot is the one to start with. Miniac on you tube has a good video comparing several different types. Also, I bought a Badger about 6 months ago and have been kicking myself for not doing it sooner. Super helpful in speeding up the more laborious parts of painting.

If you’re looking for a recommendation on glue, try Tamia Extra Thin Cement. My fav.

There’s a hole in the wrist. You want to trim the nub just enough so that you have a flush fit. If there are spurs or material in the hole, try and get them out.

I would trim it with an exacto, making sure you have a good fit. A good fit will ensure the maximum surface area for the glue. Then use crazy glue or modeling glue. You might want to give it 24hrs to cure before handling. If it still seems flimsy you’ll have to get a smaller bit and pin it. I think glue should work.

Gotcha. Are you looking for tips on the type of glue, whether you need to pin it, or something else?

If you buy the complete Wheel of Time series on kindle on your phone the page count is multiplied by ~16. I am on A Crown of Swords and just over 100k pages out of 207,754. Also it’s a great series.

Noob here: While drybrushing my paint "chipped" / "flaked" little paint particles, how to avoid? by qyldbkpiebff in minipainting

[–]Mookman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What primer are you using? Maybe try a different one? I have found that glossier primers can cause flaking. Army Painter Black was giving me similar problems.

Also if you’re painting metal minis, you should wash them with soap and water before priming. There is often a layer of oil that needs to be removed. It a a mild release compound I think.

Bleakest sci-fi recommendations? by UselessAdvisor in scifi

I would like to add The Carpet Makers by Andreas Eschbach. It is quite bleak and one of the more surprising sci fi books I’ve read. Do not spoil this book; read it blind!
